It is a genuine pleasure to announce the marriage of Arthur E. Pfeiffer and Dairis D.Peters, both Scottsdale residents, in mid-April 1976. The happy couple are getting established in their new condominium residence at 7253 Via Camello del Norte, Scottsdale, Ariz., a new section of Scottsdale on the old McCormick Ranch being developed by the Kaiser-Aetna group. Art and "Dee-dee" were joined in marriage in Prescott by "Dee-dee's" son, who is a minister in that community. Our hearty congratulations to the happy couple.

By the time this column is published, Hawaii's Polynesian Voyaging Society's 60-foot double canoe, Hokule'a (Star of Gladness) will be well on its way in its projected trip from Hawaii to Tahiti and return. At Tahiti Dr. Ken Emory will be there to welcome the captain and its crew. The steersmen aboard have been schooled by Tevake, a Polynesian now gone to meet his maker, in the art of using the stars, the currents, and the barely discernible ocean swells to navigate the canoe without the aid of modern navigation instruments. Several hundred candidates sought positions among the crew which was carefully chosen and trained for the 6,000 mile journey. Should you wish to know more about this great Bicentennial venture read Ken Emory's lead article in the NationalGeographic, December 1974, and Herbert Kawaunui Kane's (pronounced Kan-ay) article in the Geographic of April 1976.

Ned and Helen DeRouville write from Worcester that they both have recovered from attacks of "flu." Ned had intended to attend AlFoley's talk on "Vermont Wit, Humor, and Wisdom" at the Dartmouth-Worcester Club in February but had to forego that pleasurable experience due to the flu attack. Ned, by the way, is happily engaged in part-time occupation divided between an insurance office and a legal firm.

The return of Gary Walters to the Dartmouth basketball coaching position no doubt delights Jim Reber who wrote me enthusiastically about this native Reading, Pa., son.

From Hazel Macomber I learned that DotHarvey, a Friend of the Boston Symphony Orchestra recently returned from a three-week European Tour with that noted organization whom we listen to every chance we get when it appears on public television. Some 40 or more Friends accompanied the orchestra which performed superbly. Hazel also told of the successful Sarasota-Dartmouth and St. Pete-Dartmouth meetings at which the amiable MikeMcGean '4O spoke.

Ted Marden will leave Lincoln, N.H., for Concord, N.H., to take up residence in the Havenwood retirement center. As Ted says he is not saying "goodby" to Lincoln, but just "so long" as he proposes to keep in touch through his daughter who lives in nearby Littleton. Ted also has a daughter who lives in Concord which makes him feel very comfortable about his move.

Paul Richter sent me a folder, illustrated, of the Eisenhower Chapel in Denver, Colo. This chapel is sponsored by the Lions Club of Denver and is maintained by the club on the second floor of the Denver Club Building. Within the folder the text explains the several reasons why the chapel was dedicated to this great American, emphasizing especially the religious convictions he so often aptly expressed. Paul has access to a supply of these folders and has asked me to pass on the word that he will gladly send one to any classmate who requests one. Paul's current address is 4901 South Fairfax, Littleton, Colo., 80120.

In mid-June (post-reunion time) Nate andMildred Whiteside will be touring England, especially the quaint channel islands. Nate regrets the conflict in dates since it precludes their visiting Hanover at that time.

Ed and Ginny Bowen will also be missing from the post-55th reunion party in Hanover. They are shipping out of Miami on June 12th aboard the "Bolero," bound for Yarmouth, N.S., and Portland, Me., on a coastwise cruise, not putting down until June 15 in Portland. Unfortunately, Ed, there is no Loon Mountain party scheduled for this year.

It has been good to hear from Al Foley's Twenty that Dick Goddard is making progress at the V.A. hospital in White River. With the passing of Doc Miller, Professor John Amsden, and Harry Worth it has been a gloomy spring.

But, friends, carry on. Adios, amigos.
