Jack Hubbard performs a great service for our entire Class in a way that may not be apparent from his title of treasurer. Whenever a member dies leaving a widow, Jack writes a really sympathetic letter (not just a "letter of sympathy") explaining that she will continue to receive the Magazine, Twenty-Nine Up, and other mailings to our group and will be welcome at all our reunions and meetings.

Bob Monahan, who runs the best free clipping service in New England, sent me some items recently reporting that:

- Joe and Bea D'Esopo were honored at a BOAC banquet in the Norwich Inn, in recognition of their outstanding achievements at the Dartmouth Travel Bureau.

- Dr. Frank Foster preached during a Sunday morning service at the Church of Christ at Dartmouth College.

- Karl Michael, after nearly 40 years of coaching, is still involved in swimming and diving at the age of 71. The New Hampshire Sunday News of February 29, 1976, carried a feature story about Karl, who is considered the dean of Eastern swimming coaches. Although he nominally retired six years ago, he continues to officiate and teach. The article referred to the naming of the new Dartmouth pool in his honor, and photos showed him on the diving board in 1929 and as he is today.

In his transmittal letter Bob mentioned that in mid-June he will attend dedication ceremonies for an area near The Forks of the Diamond bearing John Dickey's name - details to follow.

And a note from Art Rose:

"We were appalled at civilized Beirut's insane destroyers — echoes of the misdirected patsies reacting to the Crusade promoters. But our immediate concern goes out to some 300 executives with whom we did great things together (1959-60) and their families."

Carl and Ellen Norden will soon break ground for a new house in Washington. I saw them recently at a benefit ball for the Travelers Aid Society, held in the old Union Station in Washington, which is now being converted to a visitors' center. They had just returned from a very enjoyable trip to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Tahiti.

Have a good summer!
