Our 20th is rapidly approaching and the prediction of Dave Orr, our man in Hanover, still looks good. Dave predicts that 120 members of The Class, 100 wives, and more than 200 of their progeny will be in Hanover on June 18-20. It promises to be a great weekend.

To proclaim our 20th "on high," so to speak, Class President Dave Cook and his family plan to climb Mt. Moosilauke on Saturday, June 19, and plant the class flag at the summit. Dave welcomes any other climbing classmates on his expedition.

Dave has also left his distinctive mark in many other ways as class president for the past five years - and it comes as no surprise to those of us who have served with him that Dave has been named by the College as "Class President of the Year."

In a letter of congratulations to Dave, College Secretary Mike McGean '49 wrote:

"As a swimmer you made waves in old Spaulding Pool and as a musician you left your mark on the stage of Webster Hall where the Indian Chiefs jazz band once held forth. Today you're still making -waves and leaving your mark, only this time it's from coast to coast. Last fall, in an effort to strengthen the Class of 1957 in a reunion year, you held no less than four executive committee meetings, traveling as far afield as Chicago and San Francisco."

Mike went on to say that "like so many others who labor in the vanguards of class activity, we appreciate the time you take away from your investment counseling firm."

Among Dave's many accomplishments are his work as newsletter editor and his successful efforts (along with those of Bob Andrews) to rejuvenate '57 Dialogues, a program which brings members of the Class back to the campus to talk with students and faculty about their experiences in the "outside world."

The Class joins me in a sincere thanks to Dave for a job well done!

Sadly, we must report here the death of two classmates in recent months.

Larry (Buzz) Jones passed away on March 24 of a heart attack. Larry's widow Tootsie plans to continue his advertising specialties business - Jones Associates - in McMurray, Pa. Tootsie and Tim, Kim, and Pam, look forward to some Dartmouth event in the near future.

Don Cowlbeck passed away suddenly in Toronto several months ago.

The Class extends its deepest sympathy to their families.

Last summer, "tired of ice skating on the New England slopes," Nick Danforth headed west to Salt Lake City with wife Dot and their three girls. Nick is working as medical director of an HMO serving some 16,000 people and growing fast. Nick says the "mountains and the powder that covers them are awesome - we all love it."

Jay Greene reports a recent weekend visit from Jan Wlodarkiewicz, and his wife Reba. Jan and Reba live in Phoenix where Jan plays with computers and Reba has her own television show.

A note from Dr. George Urban follows:

"Have five lovely children growing with grace, ages 12-5 - four girls, one boy. Living and working in Washington, D.C., area in private ear, nose and throat, and head and neck cancer surgery. I am also active in senior high school work and love every minute of it. Am also learning a lot. I lecture on 'Death and Dying' to adults, graduate students, and young people in three different courses, both academic and casual."

George is currently chairman of ear, nose, and throat at Holy Cross Hospital, and chairman of the visiting professor program at Washington Hospital Center. George admits to "getting slightly but not overly fat," and to wearing a full Van-Dyke beard."

That's it for this month. I look forward to seeing many of you in Hanover on June 18.
