Right now, I'm 35,000 feet over the deserts of Nevada after having spent a couple of short nights and long days at Caesar's Palace with a group of Coca-Cola bottlers. What a way to go! This time of year, there is an extraordinary amount of demand for myself and my staff to see as many bottlers as possible as we finalize 1978 plans. Usually, however, it's hard to make local contact because of the "check in . . . have our meeting . . . check out" nature of my visits. So, to all of you in Minneapolis, Las Vegas, Dallas, San Antonio, Indianapolis, Chicago, Memphis, and New York, where I've been in the past five weeks, I apologize!

Because they are easy to handle on an airplane, I'm going to attempt to recognize many of the postcards that I have received since last May.

I did speak to Myron Lewis briefly when I was in Memphis. He reports that the strapping three-year-old child is growing like crazy and that he is still president of the Memphis Dartmouth Club. Do you think one has something to do with the other?

Joel Kaswell reports that life in Bethesda, Md., could easily be replaced with the relaxed comforts of a sunny island. So, even though he's now running a law office, don't be surprised if the next time we hear from Joel, he's living on the beautiful island of !

Marty Sherwin finds the environs of Hanover delightful. It seems as if he's teaching diplomatic history up there - has done so for the past two years. "Now that Dartmouth has women, the education is even better!" Of course, if you want a nice environment, ask Dr.Walt Taylor about Flagstaff, Ariz., where, for the past nine years, he, his family - including Mary, 11, Anne, eight, and John, six - and his family practice have been doing very well. To that, you can also add skiing, hiking, riding, and all of the other activities that New Yorkers wish they could find the space to do!

Medically speaking, O. P. Jones is working as a consultant for the Ohio Regional Medical Audiovisual Consortium at Ohio State University. His wife Joan is working at the Center for Vocational Education as a technical assistant (as well as a minor poet). Nice to have a working wife . . . you can retire early! Also in the medical profession is Philip Marden who's had his own pediatric practice in Oconomowoc, Wise. I guess if you can pronounce it, you can have a family there as well. And from Anchorage, Aron Wolf reports that the "other frigid North" is very good and that the practice of medicine knows no temperature!

And, from Copper Center, Alaska, NorrieNims reports pretty much the same. "I just completed my first trip to the 'South 48' in thirteen years. My sons and I found prices nearly as high as Alaska in some places and wages much lower than Alaska." Life is such that, summer is very busy while winter allows Norrie the opportunity to travel to reunions, etc. Being that cold, Norrie, I can understand that!

From the world of the military, Ed Morris has just recently been promoted to Commander in the U.S. Navy and is currently living and working in Tokyo. Bob Worthington, down in San Antonio, has also been recently promoted - to Lieutenant Colonel. Bob continues to be chief of psychology service at Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston. He has four articles being published this fall and a selection in a book being published in January. In addition, he teaches courses in marital and family counseling. With his wife Anita he does management consulting. And, to round out "The Family Affair," two of Bob's three daughters were inducted into the National Honor Society. Just another typical American family . . . about to buy an airplane!

Jim Rex checked in from the life of the unemployed - or is it the "unencumbered?" To stay busy and well informed, Jim reads the Economist. In the April 23, 1977 issue, Jim's reading for the day was "Thou Shalt Not Guzzle." He read it three times; then went out and spread the Gospel! Between the Economist and trying to figure out what Fidelis et Suavis (over the mantle at the Alpha Chi house on Webster Avenue) means, Jim keeps himself active. Sounds like Jim's a long way from his birthplace in Dewitt, N.Y.!

Finally, let me give you some quick hitters: Earlier this year Vince Sawyer took the family to Disneyworld. On the way, they spent some time with Lee and Helen Gilliatt. Goody Gilman was recently elected a trustee of Hebron Academy, a private school in Maine, of which Goody is a graduate. John Wardrop reports all is well in Grand Rapids, Mich., and wants to know about the Class's plans for regional get-togethers for "those Indians stranded far from Hanover." A point well taken, John. Executive committee members - take note! Stuart Burns, with wife Nancy, daughter Jennifer, nine, and son Stuart, six, are all well in Malvern, Pa. Dann Lewis updates us on his job as director of tourism for the U.S. Virgin Islands. Dann commutes between Durham, N.C., and St. Thomas, where he spends one week in five! And, believe it, Dann is looking for a marketing job in the leisure industry somewhere in New Hampshire. (To each his own!) And Stu Hanson continues to practice internal medicine in Minneapolis as well as be actively involved in medical administration. Wife Gail, daughter Marta, 13, and son Peter, 11, are all fine.

That's about all for November. I hope you've all had a great fall and a happy Thanksgiving and are looking forward to a great holiday season. It looks as if the plane is about to touch down ... or is that stewardess winking for another reason?
