Moreau Brown has accepted the newly developed post of matching gifts coordinator proffered by our prexy Bert MacMannis. Bert acted on information that other classes have benefitted handsomely by placing special emphasis on this bonus type of gift to the College. Why not '39, and why not Brownie, who has worked long and hard in the vineyard of creating support for educational institutions around the country for GE and others?

By the time you read this, Colby Howe will have retired from a lifetime career with the Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Colby stepped down as manager of the San Francisco sales district. A native of Philadelphia, he started with Bethlehem 37 years ago in the firm's Loop management training program. He took some years off in 1941 for the obvious reason, serving with the Marines, in which he ended up a major. Then again, in the Korean conflict, he saw active duty and emerged a lieutenant colonel. But some might remember seeing Colby in magazine ads pushing the Big Brother program, an organization he currently serves as western region president. Word has it that Colby is a sailor of note, a golfer, a gardener, and a guy who enjoys finishing furniture.

Gordon King, president of The Hanover Shoe Company, Inc., had a profile write-up in the industry press recently. It noted that he was appointed to his present post in 1974, having entered the company in 1962 and been charged with starting a direct selling-marketing division at Hanover. In 1963 he was named president of Sheppard & Myers Inc., the firm's wholly owned subsidiary. Before that, he was a vice president and national sales manager of Knapp Brothers Shoe Manufacturing Corporation, and did a short stint with Stetson Shoe Company. Gordie, currently a director of the Volume Footwear Retailers of America, is married and has three sons.

Here's an update on the George Hannas. Son Tom '71, who, you may remember, followed in dad's footsteps as a baseballer at Dartmouth, is a reporter for the Virginian Pilot, Virginia Beach, Va., after four years with the Keene Sentinel. Daughter Tudie was married this past September to Rick Huleatt, who is studying for the ministry in Simsbury, Conn. Katie is at Boston College Law School and may be remembered for her successful campaign as the youngest legislator in the State of New Hampshire. She is a veteran delegate of two Democratic National Conventions and also worked for Senator Tom McIntyre. Somehow in there she earned a degree from Mt. Holyoke last May.
