One pleasant bit of news came to my desk recently in the form of a report of the honors conferred on Hal Davison by his friends and neighbors in Woodsville, N.H. The principal event on this occasion was the awarding of a life membership in the Ross-Wood Post of the American Legion. Hal was one of the original organizers of this post and served as its first commander.
The citation brought out the highlights of his military career, from his enlistment in 1917 through several years of active duty in France to the awarding of the "Croix de Guerre."
His civilian career in law and in politics included four terms as a representative in the New Hampshire legislature, speaker in 1927, president of the senate in 1929, and attorney general 1945 to 1948. He also served as Chairman of the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission for ten years until his retirement in 1961.
Dot Haubner writes of a busy life including the sponsorship of a Japanese girl and the birth of two great-grandchildren. We are very appreciative of the work Dot does with the widows of 1915, who form a most loyal segment of the Class.
Now is the time to give serious thought to your contribution to the Alumni Fund and to making plans to attend the 1915 interim reunion September 30-October 1.
