No doubt the last issue of the Magazine made clear to all interested readers the grand success of our neighboring class's fifth-year reunion in June. The fine times and enthusiasm shown by '73s are certainly precursors for a similarly exuberant celebration on the part of our Class. Under the thoughtful and detailed planning of Reunion Chairman Rick O.Williams, the event set for the weekend of June 15-17, 1979, is bound to attract '74s from all points on the map. More details on our reunion shall follow in months to come.

Continuing with news relayed last April via Assistant Head Agent Peter Blodgett and procured during his efforts for the Alumni Fund campaign, Robert and Nancy Battle related that they were married in the spring of 1976, that they have a baby girl, and that Bob was at work with Tech Hi-fi. Also noted was Peter Edson, hard at work on his farm and raising apples again this year; he provided the apples for the First Annual Apple Festival in Hanover last year. Other news came from JohnKnight, then a senior project engineer with the Kollsman Instrument Company in Merrimack, N.H.; Charles Littlejohn, who was looking forward to graduation in June from Dartmouth Medical School; and Paul Montalbine, then finishing an internship in internal medicine at the State University of New York. Peter noted that, while in the midst of Albany Law School, Jonathan Rabinowitz has been working for the New York State Higher Education Services Corp. since August 1977 and was married in August 1974 to Beverly Gang, a graduate of Fairieigh Dickinson University.

Peter learned also that Don Nielsen was in the process of bicycling north from Atlanta, Dick Searles was teaching at White Mountain School, and Steve Tenney had been ski patrolling at Sun Valley and was looking for employment in the field of geology. Lastly, EdWeselcouch had been studying pharmacology at Dartmouth Medical School since August 1977 and Walter Singletary worked for two years as a financial analyst for Prudential's Mediterranean Lines before joining the comptroller's office of Prudential Insurance Company, where he is responsible for the firm's expenses and budget.

In the Sunday, April 30 edition of the NewYork Times Book Review appeared coverage of a new book for children written by ChasCarner. Barbara Wersba's complimentary review of Tawny revealed that the touching and true story is of a New England farm boy named Trey. The book was also reviewed in the September ALUMNI MAGAZINE. Congratulations, Chas!

In early May, Dan Harbin wrote to summarize the plans of several classmates of his at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine; all but one were to graduate with him in June. He related that Don Casey had plans to do his residency in internal medicine at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago, Bill Chilcote was headed for work in radiology at the Cleveland Clinic, Mike Draznik was to continue his study of obstetrics and gynecology in Cincinnati, Tom Gianis '73 was to begin his residency training at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Paul Kaminski and Brian Skale were headed for. the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville for training in radiology and internal medicine, and Tom Whelan '75 was entering his last year of medical school there and so had no firm plans yet for a residency. Dan said he was destined for Rochester, Minn., "with the intention of cruising the singles bars in search of fast women" and in his spare time engaging in a residency in internal medicine at the Mayo Clinic. Thanks for the news, Dan!

Later in the month, an article clipped from the Painesville, Ohio, Telegraph and sent to Hanover noted that Dan was voted by members of his senior class to receive the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine's Senior Class Alumni Award. The notice also mentioned his election earlier into Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society. Good work!

Another letter received in early May, from David Goodkin '76, revealed that DennisMoyer had "cleaned up his act since graduation forced him to close the all-night Topliff Game Room; he is now a fast-rising young banker, recently transferred to Wilmington for additional training in the mortgage field." Dave added that Denny married his wife Cheryl in June 1977 in a ceremony at the College.

An article clipped from the Chelmsford, Mass., Newsweekly reported that Ron Latham received a master's degree in library science from Simmons College last December. A note from Ron later in the year explained that he was hired to direct the Athol Public Library, in "a booming little community of 13,000 in central Massachusetts."

A very welcome source of news - the class dues notices and their accompanying spaces for news - manifested itself in June when a prodigious number of notes and letters from classmates were received via Class Treasurer Jack Thomas. In a note enclosed with all the tidbits of news, Jack related that he had just graduated from St. Louis University School of Law and was about to leave for a vacation of fishing for tarpon and bonefish before studying for the Missouri bar examination. Jack and Debbie had plans to take a belated honeymoon by touring the West, Hawaii, and Baja this summer after the exam. Upon their return, Jack was to begin work with the St. Louis law firm of Armstrong, Teasdale, Kramer & Vaughan in September. Thanks for your note and the others from classmates, Jack!

Among the letters sent to Jack was a brief update from Nat Weeks who is enjoying teaching international relations, government, and U.S. history to eighth and ninth graders in Cheyenne, Wyo. He was busy participating in a production of My Fair Lady, singing in the choral society, and skiing at Alta and Jackson Hole. Nat said he had plans for writing in England over the summer. Sounds great, Nat!

A very thoughtful letter loaded with information came to Jack from Lex McCusker, then hard at work as a graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin toward a doctorate in experimental psychology. Lex reported that a small reunion took place at his wedding on August 7, 1977, in Bloomington, Ind., to Susan E. Buchwald, a 1975 graduate of Brown University. Attending were a number of members of the classes of 1972-76. Lex's notes on those present mentioned that SteveMcDowell is studying for a doctorate in English at the University of Chicago after two years of study in Cambridge, Joe Younger is an editor for a Washington, D.C., publishing firm, and Bruce Sanborn is attending law school at the University of Minnesota, is married, and has a son "Teddo." So much news is greatly ap- preciated, Lex.

The rest of the news relayed through JackThomas - including reports on Mike Brayton,Peter Brown, Bob Whelan, and many others - must wait until next month. Meanwhile, have a happy Halloween.
