By the time these notes are published, we should be well into the holiday season. We hope you are enjoying and appreciating this marvelous time of the year and that 1980 will be a most happy and prosperous year for you all.

Alan J. Burnes has earned favorable press recently due to his leadership efforts that have made the southeastern Massachusetts Mission of the Assembly of Faiths, a recently-formed Delaware corporation based in Westport, Mass., a successful urban developer. Through its multi-family housing task force, Project Revital, it is concentrating on urban rehabilitation as part of a concern for the overall quality of life for cities.

The mission is directed by Alan and comprises retired professionals and business executives who have subsequently entered the clergy (Alan is a retired Textron executive). The organization has been responsible for $425,000 worth of rehab production during the past five months and has been successful not only in rejuvenating old and often abandoned properties but also in re-renting the renewed properties to lower income families at rates competitive even with those charged for very marginal accomodations.

One excellent effect of this effort to stop the inner city blight and provide good quality housing at relatively low cost has been that on property in areas where a rehab has been accomplished. Neighbors appear to take hope and have needed work done to- their own properties to bring them up to the new neighborhood standards.

The head of Inforex recently announced the appointment of Gerald E. Jones to the vice presidency of sales and marketing, worldwide. Gerry previously served as vice president, international, for Inforex; in that position, he had responsibility for operations in the company's eight European subsidiaries and 24 distributor markets. In his new post, he has added to these duties the direct responsibility for sales and marketing activities of the company's domestic sales office as well.

Inforex Inc. is headquartered in Burlington, Mass., and manufactures, markets, and services small computer systems used for data entry, file management, and distributed data processing applications.

Charles H. Sellman of Sherborn accepted in September the voluntary position of section head of the fabricated metals division in the southern region for the 1979 campaign of the United Way of Massachusetts Bay. We trust that by now, Charlie has completed this year's campaign with a new record performance. He is vice president and controller of the Barry Wright Corporation in Watertown, Mass., and is a member of Financial Executives Institute, American Institute of CPAs.'

Martin Anderson is back on the political campaign trail, having recently been appointed deputy chair for policy development by the Reagan for President Committee. Marty, who has been on leave from his post at Stanford University's Hoover Institution since March, has served as the committee's director of research and policy development. During Reagan's 1976 campaign, Marty served as issues adviser. Earlier, from 1969 to 1971, he was a White House adviser, first as a special assistant to the President and then as a special consultant to the President. In his new position, Marty will coordinate policy development for the committee at the national headquarters in Los Angeles.

Kenneth D. Rakouska has been appointed general manager of the energy division of Chemtech Industries, a St. Louis-based manufacturer and distributor of chemicals. Ken came to Chemtech from Consolidated Aluminum Corporation, where he was director of sales and marketing, and Alpana Aluminum Products, where he was executive vice president. In his new position, Ken will have responsibility for the four departments of the energy division - quickheat fuel oil delivery; burner service; energy conservation; and heating, ventilating, and air conditioning.

I was delighted to hear from Nancie Waldron, who advised us that we'd better clear the airways. She said she and husband EdwardWaldron IV got their private pilot's licenses this past summer and have enjoyed their new hobby so much that they've also purchased an airplane, a Piper Tomahawk. I wonder if Ed sings casually as he flies upside-down? Nancie also reported that Ed is maintaining his thespian expertise, most recently appearing in a series of vignettes commemorating Cleveland's Hermit Club's 75th anniversary. Since no women were allowed in the club from 1904 until the midthirties, men took the parts of women in their shows. And, not in the least surprisingly, Ed played a buxom senorita in the first half of the show. In the second half, Ed was a boxing match referee, an "Elvis-type rock 'n roll singer." Sorry we all couldn't have been at this show to cheer Ed on!

Happy Holidays!
