Bob Hall was given the dedicated service award by the Grand Lodge of New York, F & AM, in appreciation of his dedication to his own lodge and to Freemasonry in general. He and Virginia were guests of honor at a dinner where the presentation was made. Bob has been through the chairs of all Masonic bodies in the York rite.
Bob will be a representative of the class at the celebration of 100 years of Dartmouth football - a most worthy representative as we look back.
The Chitticks spent three weeks in France in September, a trip which included a barge trip through the canals to Dijon. They spent several days in Avignon and drove as far as Orleans, visiting historic sites and staying at several delightful chateaux.
Rudolph Haerle reports that his granddaughter, Rebecca Haerle, is a member of the class of 1984.
Bill Jones has become a great-grandfather. As time goes on more and more classmates will undoubtedly receive this distinction. The Nilsens did not spend the summer in Andover, as has been their custom for several years, but then did spend the month of August in the north, travels which included a trip on the Saguenay River, the Erie Canal, and the Hudson River. Following this they visited their families in Rochester, Ann Arbor, and Pittsburgh. The Nilsens celebrated their fiftieth anniversary in May with 27 members of their family present.
The Holmlunds left their summer home in Falmouth on October 1 to return to Green Valley by way of Rochester, N.Y., and Florida.
Ed Howe spent a week in Hanover in July and the balance of the summer on Long Island before returning to his home in Florida.
We extend our sympathy to Larry Kugelman on the death of his wife.
The class was represented by the Holmlunds,Stuarts, Everetts, and Bents at the clambake held by the Cape Cod Dartmouth Club (in conjunction with the Cornell Club). Along with the Paul Reeds '25, this group represented the oldest classes in attendance all still able to do justice to the clams and lobsters.
Larry Hewes reports that they are now back in Tennessee, where he keeps busy with lawn and household chores.
Leo Stone is still in active practice. He spent a week this summer on Deer Island, Me., and a week in Fairlee, Vt.
Boyce Butterfield is still practicing law, but in a semi-retired manner. He and his wife Virginia visited the Karslakes in Chatauqua, N.Y., only a few days before Frank's death. The Butterfields travel once a year to California for a visit to their daughter in San Jose,
Our thanks to all classmates who included news items along with their remittances to Stan Chittick for class dues. If you have not yet responded to Stan's annual memo, now is a good time to do so, and bear in mind that classmates are always glad to hear news from the home front.
