In a meeting last fall, the New York Ophthalmological Society paid tribute to the late Pudge Wheeler, who died in April. His record of accomplishment and his service to the society were reviewed. He had written a book on the history of the organization's first 100 years and was president at the time of its publication. His widow Martha has offered certain of the books in his extensive library to the Dartmouth College Library as a gift.

There was a sizable '25 group on the RoyalViking Sky, sailing from the West Coast through the Panama Canal to Florida in January — the Abels and Zahms from Delray, Jenkinses from Falmouth, Mass., and Borwells from Chicago. (See the photograph on the opposite page.)

In 1976 Bob Hardy's organization in Sarasota became part of the Raymond James company of St. Petersburg. As senior vice president, Bob continues to conduct weekly financial planning classes in the Sarasota office.

Bud Brown of Scottsdale is another classmate who keeps busy, but mostly outdoors. He runs into a number of Dartmouth alumni on the "Desert Caballeros" and "Verde Vaqueros" trail rides each year. His note continued: "My wife of 49 years was again the oldest entrant in the classic Tevis Cup Ride this past July - one rider, one horse, 100 miles in one day, where 'to finish is to win.' Barely 60 percent of those who enter do. . . . While she was gone I ramrodded a 100-mile wagon train, for which we teamsters take five leisurely days through Arizona's beautiful back country, enjoying the camping out as much as anything. . . . Already busy with preparations for Friendly Pines' 40th season of camping next year. This past summer was the best ever superb weather, a top staff, and 170 boys and girls."

Hal McHenry wrote from Wilbraham, Mass., that he will be on hand for the 55th reunion on June 6, 7, and 8 in Hanover and will have three guests - his son, daughter-in-law, and 11-year-old granddaughter.

And if you want to know anything about reunion and have lost the address of reunion head L. P. White, it is 3 Brown Street, Marblehead, Mass. 01945.

Bob Cubbins and his wife plan to leave Tequssta, Fla., in early summer for a trip north for the graduation of their seventh and youngest grandchild and will not get to Hanover.

John and Ruth Hamilton, also in Tequesta, attend the same church as the Cubbinses and see them'occasionally. Hammy reported a visit in December from Justin Bugbee and his spouse on a trip south from Vermont.

John and Ruth Packard are in Vero Beach. He wrote, "Ruth had a complete hip replacement. Everything OK - on crutches for two months, with cane for two. No bend, no stoop.4 so I was general picker-upper, cook, and maid.;'

The jayvee hockey team got off to a fast start this winter, winning four pre-season scrinimages and the first five games at least. Beaver Shriver '82, Bob Smith's grandson, is a highscoring forward, and Paul Hommeyer's grandson is also on the team.
