Hello again. Here comes the judge. Richard Neely has been elected chief justice of West Virginia by unanimous vote of the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals. Richard has been a member of West Virginia's highest court since 1972. As chief justice, he is the chief executive officer of the unified judiciary and has supervisory authority over all appellate, general jurisdiction, and magistrate courts in the state. At present, Richard is the youngest chief justice of a court of last resort in the United States. (It is rumored that the seal of his court is the great American Kangaroo and that all swearing-in is preceded by the words "Wah-Hoo-Wah"!) In addition to his judicial duties, Richard is a full professor of economics at the University of Charleston, chairs the board of directors of Kane and Keyser Corporation, and is a general partner of two major, non-government, rural housing projects in northern West Virginia. In 1979, Richard married Carolyn Elaine Elmore of Princeton, W.Va. It is my honor to honor your honor.
Stu Brown wrote that on February 1 he rejoined the Center for Disease Control after a year's assignment to the World Health Organization. (I wonder what he caught in the organization?)
Joel DeWeise, known for his rapier-like wit and sloth-like reflexes, wrote the following class note: B-sharp.
Peter Guerrini flies the friendly skies of United. He is a pilot for United Airlines, flying a B-727 out of Cleveland, definitely the best city to fly out of.
Tom Clark has formed a law firm based in Hartford, Conn., with two other partners. Tom lives in Farmington and is clerk of the Connecticut House of Representatives, chairs the Board of Protection and Advocacy for the Handicapped, and is an incorporator of Hartford
Hospital. He is a member of the American, Connecticut, and Hartford County Bar Associations. (Hopefully we can get parking tickets fixed in both West Virginia and Connecticut now.)
Gene Marshall is still in the Foreign Service. He is currently assigned to the American Embassy in Athens, Greece. He will be in Greece until 1981. He works in the consular section of the embassy, and, due to the absence of a consul general (must have gotten cold feet after Iran), Gene is acting chief of the section.
Land/Vest, a New England marketing, sales, and land management firm, has appointed Dan dimancescu of the Paris-based Interex Associates as its European sales representative for land, special properties, and estates. Interex is an international business brokerage and consulting firm representing sales in the United States, acquisitions, and commercial import and export negotiations. Prior to joining Land/Vest, Dan was president of Cities Corporation from 1976 to 1978. He is presently a candidate for an M.B.A. degree at Harvard Business School. He is on the board of the Cambridge Center for Adult Education, the Boston Fulbright Committee, and the International Coma Recovery Institute. Dan and wife Katherine live in Lincoln, Mass.
See you all at reunion on June 13-15 for a few chuckles.
