Class dues, the 15th reunion, and our class's performance in annual giving were highlights of the agenda at a recent meeting of your class executive committee in Etna. Convening over the February 28-March 1 weekend at Pierce's Inn were John and Pokey Kornet, Jeff and Pamm Zimmerman, Dick and Paula Clapp, Jim and Ann Paull, Clem and Holly Page, Bill and Charlotte Bogardus, Ted and Gloria Laßoche, Curt Anderson, and Dick Lacey. In addition to a splendid time having been enjoyed by all (many of us much too long absent from the beloved north country), a fair amount of class business was accomplished. More on that later, under separate cover.
Cryptic Note Department: Wayne Beyer writes, "I was recently elected president of the Harvard Club of New Hampshire." Anyone have any idea what that's supposed to mean?
Pete (Nip) Nistad lives in the Charleston, S.C., area where he's vice president and treasurer of White Stack Towing and Transportation Co., Inc. The company operates a fleet of six tugboats in the shipdocking and coastal towing trade. "Charleston is the ideal place to bring up a family," writes Nip. "The only objections I have after being here for three years are the months of July and August and the fact that my boys (Gunnar, ten, and Chris, nine) are starting to say 'you-all.' Otherwise we love it here and invite any classmates in the area to stop by and say hello."
Bill Fell married Sally Robertson on December 22, 1980 in Las Vegas. Bill continues in the private practice of medicine in Denver. Sandy Campbell is a second-year orthopedic resident at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Wife Jean Schley Campbell still competes in Whitewater kayaking. Thomas, two, and Julian, six months, seem to share their mother's flair for boating.
Navy lieutenant commander William Judd is director of the submarine officers' basic course at the Navy Submarine School in New London, Conn. The course trains junior officers in groups of about 600 in basic submarining before they report to their first duty stations. "The job is interesting and a challenge, and a welcome change from sea duty."
John Magee married Cynthia Ann Murphy of Summit, N.J., on February 7, 1981. John is an assistant vice president of the Discount Corporation of New York, a primary dealer in government securities.
Alec Nagle is working at Ted Turner's Cable News Network as a supervising producer. He's involved in getting the network's 24-hour-a-day news service on the air. Deems it a "terrific job."
Within the next few weeks, I'm going to begin corresponding with you individually in groups of 20 or so a month. I'm hoping you'll take a few minutes to scribble a few lines on a postage-paid, self-addressed postcard, and drop it in the mail. That'll give you all something of interest to read every month, and it'll give me an incentive not to procrastinate so badly come deadline time.
And so, till next time, cheers to all
