Well, it's that time of year again. You've already bought Girl Scout cookies, the United Fund has pounded on your door, Jerry Lewis drives you crazy, and you're tired of hearing about a "check-up and a check." Regardless, I'm going to ask you to dip into your golden checkbook one more time. It's simple enough the Alumni Fund and the Campaign for Dartmouth desperately need your support if they're going to meet their respective goals. So if you have not done so already, please give generously.

Speaking of the Alumni Fund, I recently saw our head class agent, Donna Ferretti, up in Hanover for Class Officers Weekend. Donna earned an M.B.A. at Harvard after Dartmouth. After a stint with the retail clothing business in Minneapolis, she has now returned to Boston and is a head buyer for Filenes.

I also crossed paths with former class scribe Steve Quigley, who has been active in trying to get the class geared up for the tenth reunion. Quigs is a mathematics editor with AddisonWesley. His wife is expecting on Labor Day. Steve always had a unique sense of timing.

A news release from the Industrial National Bank of Providence (Rhode Island) indicates that Richard Roby has been promoted to vice president. Richard also earned an M.B.A. degree at Harvard. He joined the bank in 1978 as an assistant vice president and lending representative in the eastern division and is now responsible for business development and account relationships in Northern New England.

Through class treasurer Joe Powers I've learned that Jim Griffith is alive and well and thriving in the Confederacy. Jim married the former Linda Sabo of Brook Park, Ohio, on September 2, 1977, and they are now the proud parents of "one spectacular son, Adam James, who's 18 months old." Jim is currently director of international sales with Sepco Corporation of Birmingham, Ala. Apparently, Jim sees Rickand Charlotte Rutland and their two daughters occasionally. Rick is practicing pediatrics in Anniston, Ala. And Jim's college roommate, Nick Chaumousis, is also alive and well in the Big Apple. Nick graduated with honors from Columbia Law School and is now successfully hustling through New York's "paper chase."

Finally, I received a terrific letter from Mike Klupchak. Mike has now returned to Northwestern Law School after spending two and a half years as a VISTA volunteer with New Hampshire Legal Assistance in Manchester, N.H., and three years with the National Labor Relations Board in Atlanta. In May of 1980, he married Shaun O'Keefe (Irish?) in Fairfax, Va. Shaun is a dietician who is currently selling pharmaceuticals (i.e., pushing drugs) in Chicago to help Mike through law school. But their honeymoon sounds like it was a lot more fun than law school or the drug business. After a month in Greece, they spent two months traveling out west, camping and visiting (i.e. mooching) with friends and relatives. They even saw Mt. St. Helens explode and took a raft trip down the Salmon River in Idaho. And to top it off, fhey ran into Jim andBonnie Gilly and Jim and Cindy Johnston in Salt Lake City.

Well, that's all the news for now. See you next fall, and in the meantime, remember the Alumni Fund.
