Have just returned from the Class Officers' Weekend in Hanover. It seems that this year's attendance set a record. The classes of '09, '12, and '15 were represented, followed by every class from '17 through '82. Our class was represented by President John Leggat, Head Agent Vic Smith, Bequest Chairman John White, your secretary, and, of course, our resident lobbyists, George Barr and Cliff Jordan. And ... by Ruth, Vesta, Molly, Shirley, Betsey, and Betty.

Certainly one of the most informative features of the weekend was learning of President McLaughlin's innovative no-nonsense frontal attack on the problems of inflation and the paring of federal subsidies. You and your class are helping in this battle. Just recently, $ 1,000 was allocated from the 1945 treasury for aid to two students, both female, one an American Indian and the other of Oriental descent. Both had sudden and unexpected need, as one lost her possessions in a fire, and the family of the other lost most of its income because of medical problems.

Vic Smith reports that Fletcher Clark, whose wife died some three years ago, was recently remarried. Fletch is with the international division of Turner Construction Company (which also puts bread and butter on Vic's table). Fletch and Helen are now in Hong Kong on a combination business trip and honeymoon.

'Round the girdled earth they roam! Not only Fletch, but also Edward M. Davin. Ed, who recently retired from the National Science Foundation in Washington, has joined Teknica Resource Development Ltd. in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Ed will be a consulting geologist with world-wide assignments, the first of which is in Denmark.

You may have to hit a donkey over the head with a baseball bat to get its attention. But with people, misspelling their names can get even better and certainly more incensed reactions. To wit: Someone, somewhere along the line, hit the wrong typewriter key (I profess innocence), and Cam Cray came out Cam Gray, who did not turn out to be on the '45 roster. I feel partially vindicated, however, as Cam informs me by long distance mail from Palo Alto, Calif, (where, in case you don't know, he is a practicing M.D.) that Bob Moyer is a '44. Cam goes on to say: "If you don't improve your act, I'll sic Moose Rowan on you."

Act? ACT!! How crass! How insensitive! How insulting!

Or is it simply that I have been found out?
