One theme pervaded every discussion at the reunion: movement. Classmates recounted moves for new jobs, education, or constant travel required for the job. How could the oil industry have a glut, if our generation is any indicator?
Bob Lynn and Nancy arrived from Minneapolis after a scorching cross-country drive with Morgan (ten), Joshua (seven), and Nathaniel (15 months). Bob was unaccountably composed after his adventure perhaps the sight of a keg? He is now an assistant county attorney prosecuting felony cases. His big day in court arrives October 12 when he argues Minnesota v. Murphy before the U.S. Supreme Court. At issue is a convict's mention of an unrelated murder to a probation officer. The description led to a subsequent conviction which is being appealed. Nancy is busy working part time as a labor and delivery nurse.
Bill Hoyt, who served admirably as our refreshment coordinator for Road Trip '68, is now vice president for finance at International Packings in Bristol, N.H. Bill returned east to Tuck School in 1975 after a stint in California flying jets for Uncle Sam. While Bill remains active in our class's activities, Lynne is vice president of the Alumni Association of Colby-Sawyer College. She also works as director of public relations for New London Hospital.
Bill mentions that a son, Jeffrey, was born to Andy and Silvia Hotaling September 9. Andy and Bill were in flight training together in California. Following the service Andy entered Case-Western Reserve, where he met Silvia and they both earned M.D. degrees. Andy is currently a chief resident in otolaryn gology at Northwestern University in Chicago, while Silvia is on leave from a psychiatry residency at the University of Chicago.
Dick Anderson unaccountably stayed east after medical school. He practiced radiology in Manchester, N.H., until this past month, when he returned to his native state to join a radiology group in Visalia, Calif. Dick notes he has several snow shovels for sale.
Gary Horlick has moved from the Commerce Department, where he was deputy assistant secretary, to the Washington law firm of O'Melveny and Myers. Gary trained in international law at Cambridge, where he received B.A. and M.A. degrees, and attended Yale Law School, where he earned his J.D. He served as international trade counsel to the U.S. Senate Finance Committee and then joined the Department of Commerce in 1981. At Commerce he was responsible for administering such areas as the anti-dumping and countervailing duty laws and the trigger price mechanism for steel. He represented the U.S. at proceedings of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Charles Schrader was named executive vice president of Insurance Services Office, a country-wide data-gathering and rate-advisory organization for the property/casualty insurance business. He joined ISO as vice president and general counsel in 1979. In 1982 he became a senior vice president responsible for the legal and government relations departments and now assumes the added responsibility for finance and research. Chuck received his J.D. and LL.M. from NYU Law School.
