The reins of class secretary have officially been passed, and while I'm still grappling with the idea of the monthly responsibility, the job is one which I welcome. I appreciate the opportunity to serve the class in the capacity as secretary and look forward to justifying your confidence.

In considering the tasks ahead, I am constantly reminded of the contributions of my predecessor, Bill Cater, over the past several years. Bill has been tireless in his efforts, diligent in his responsibility, and spirited in his delivery. The class of 1974 owes Bill a debt of gratitude for all his work. Many thanks for your fine service, Bill.

Much has been made about the tremendous success of our tenth reunion. Here is still more. As participation chairman, I had the opportunity to work closely with chairman Doug Lind and treasurer Buff Davis. Their judgement and skill, exhibited throughout the entire planning process, assured us all a memorable weekend. Our reunion could not have been the success it was without your participation. An all-time College record, 244 members of the class of 1974 returned to Hanover in June. That record was achieved, in part, through the efforts of the regional participation coordinators which included: Steve Allison, Rick Woolworth, Judd Fitze, John Halenbeek, Fritz Mann, Mike Wargo, Tom Draths, John Elsenhans, Dave Johnson, and Bob Molinari. A class of '74 salute to you all.

With these acknowledgements taken care of, to the issue of this monthly column. The viability of our class notes stems from your input. (My ability to stretch one page of information into a ten-page paper has lessened considerably over the last ten years.) Please take any and every opportunity to inform the College or me of your whereabouts, achievements, family, travel, and exploits, in general or specific. The Alumni Magazine has also expressed a greater willingness to include more photographs in our column, especially group shots at weddings if the pictures are black and white and of small groups, so that faces are discernible. We're counting on the remaining bachelors and bacheloreftes for plenty of copy.

Many have commented on how important the class notes are and how they look forward to reading them first when the Alumni Magazine arrives. Active participation and regular contribution of news is incumbent upon us all to help maintain the semblance of unity for which the class of 1974 is so well known.

I look forward to hearing from all of you, and thanks in advance for your help. Till next month . . .
