And here we are in May, and we still don't know who the Stanley Cup champs are. My squash has gone in, the tomato plants are almost ready, the kid next door has already mowed the lawn three times, and we are still at 2-1 in a best four out of seven. Unreal. Maybe we'll know by Memorial Day. At least the hockey is good.
Bruce Swift wrote this month, and it seems that he has kept busy traveling and skiing, which sounds pretty good. Bruce adds that this particular life-style is possible because of his having enjoyed success at driving cabs in Boston and parking cars at Fenway. When the recession put a crimp in business, Bruce tried his hand at the tables of Vegas, where he was able to win more than he lost. For those who are curious, Dart Col awarded Bruce his degree in 1982, and he adds that even the lonely life of an aging bachelor and incorrigible freak has its successes. Hang in there, Bruce.
This time I'm actually in the news. I have gone to work for La Salle Partners Incorporated, which is a Chicago-based real estate firm that has opened a New York office. The shipping business is in a very deep depression, out of which it is not likely to climb for some time, and greener pastures beckoned. Another of our classmates, Wade Judge, found this particular green pasture years ago and has enjoyed a good bit of success working out of the Chicago headquarters.
So that's it for the summer. Have a good one, and remember that the Harvard game is up at Dartmouth this year. Take care.
