It is good to be back in print once again. I thank those who have been in contact with me for the news they have provided. I hope that a number of us will be able to get to Hanover this fall and will have a chance to see one another at the football games and other upcoming events. Plans for our reunion this spring are coming along very well under TomPeisch's able supervision. Anyone who would like to help Tom should contact him at his office, Burns and Levinson, at 50 Milk Street in Boston, Mass. I know that Tom will appreciate your willingness to help out. It should be fun, and I'm sure that you will find the participation to be rewarding.

I had occasion to be in Hanover last spring for the first Dartmouth Lawyers Association meeting. Our president, GaryBrooks, is active in the organization, serving as its secretary-treasurer. Ernie Babcock and his wife, Sally, were at the meeting, and it was great getting caught up with them. You may recall that Ernie has established his own firm, under the name of Friedman and Bahcock, in Portland, and he sounded very delighted with the way in which things were going.

Also delighted with, recent events are Chris and San "Lois" Buschmann, who welcomed their third child, Julia Marie, on April 13, 1985. Julia arrived at a very healthy eight pounds, five ounces. In addition to playing a major role in the delivery of his child, Chris started a new job making assessments for taxes on real estate property for towns in Maine and New Hampshire. Chris is finding it interesting work as it brings him into contact with a number of people and, as one can imagine, provides a rather interesting glimpse of human nature.

I had occasion recently to visit with Thorne and Kelly Butler, who were kind enough to host me for a weekend in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was a great pleasure visiting with them and with their daughter, Taylor, who is just as well-behaved and happy a child as one could want. It was a very full weekend, and I realized how good it was for us all to get together and talk over common experiences and goals.

Tom Tiemann was kind enough to write. He has completed his first year as associate professor of economics at Elon College and has taken up residence in Hillsboro, N.C. He is involved in reviving the economics program for the college. Economics had been an area of study as part of the business program, and Tom has the task of expanding the department. He wrote that he is enjoying the task and seeing progress for his efforts already. Tom's wife works at the University of North Carolina library and noticed a report of the death of our classmate Frederick Michael Jr., who died in an automobile accident on April 11, 1985. An obituary will appear either in this or a later issue of the Alumni Magazine. My thanks to Tom and his wife, who went to the trouble of bringing to my attention a nice tribute to our classmate even though they did not know him personally.

Jeff Locke has been named vice president of market planning and operations for U.S. Telecom. Jeff will oversee market planning and product management of the company's products and services. He will also have responsibility for international telecommunications agreements. Prior to accepting his position at U.S. Telecom, Jeff was a vice president for marketing for the Bell and Howell company in Chicago. He comes to his new job with a background

ground in high-technology products, including video, satellite communications, micro-computer materials, and electrooptics. U.S. Telecom is a subsidiary of United Telecommunications, Inc., located in Kansas City. The company is currently constructing the first all-digital network using fiber-optic technology. Jeff, his wife, Barbara, and daughter will probably have relocated to the Kansas City, Mo., area by the time this column appears in print.

I would like to thank all those who were involved in this year's Alumni Fund drive. With your help we came very close to reaching our increased objectives. Special thanks go to those who helped SteveLeary and his regional heads solicit funds and to all those who willingly increased their contributions. We still need a bit more help in terms of participation from class members, however. We are hoping that this coming year, which is our reunion year, will be especially successful.
