As of this writing, the Stan Chitticks are on their way on a cruise through the Panama Canal and then plan for a four-week stay near Venice, Fla., at the "Plantations." Stan hopes to get in some golf.
Thanks also to Stan for sending along further news picked up by him in response to bills for class dues. Greg Belcher writes from Dunedin, Fla., that he can still walk one and a half to two miles a day, but he has a broken heart over Reagan's re-election. Ed Owen actually admits to being in good health. He recommends reading or rereading P. G. Wodehouse, "the only writer who can make me laugh out loud." Boyce Butterfield will admit only that he is "still breathing." Howard Clark is more effusive: "After a few years at the University of Minnesota, and more as an ophthalmologist in California, I find myself living in the pines overlooking the Pacific. Carmel-by-the-Sea has no mortuary, no cemetery, no jail. I like it here." Helen Buettner says she is moving to Hawaii to be near her son, Ted.
By the time you see this, you will already have received the new class directory. The first error noted is that the address given for Robin Robinson is his summer address in Maine. If you are writing Robin, send it to his Hanover address at 16 Allen Street. Better still, write to your class secretary at the address at the head of this column. He needs news more than Robin does.
Chinee Allen reports that he has in his possession three unused copies of the"40 Year History." As suggested in Robin Robinson's January newsletter, Chinee is leaving one of these at the Alumni Room in Blunt Alumni Center with an attached note that any classmate is welcome to take it on condition that he notifies Chinee that this has been done, so that it may be replaced with another duplicate. The note will also express the hope that the person taking the book make a special contribution to the Alumni Fund in memory of a deceased classmate, to be designated by the recipient. According to our information, there are only four such unused copies available.
A letter from Doris Coyle, via Beatie Adams, calls attention to an error in the December issue. It was Helen Coyle, widow of JohnCoyle, who was present at last fall's minireunion. Doris says, "How I wish I could have been there!" Our apologies to both Doris and Helen for the mistaken identity.
