Less than six months out of college, and already '86s are cropping up on magazine covers. So what if it was our own Alumni Magazine—Phil Marchal's mom is still telling all the neighbors that her son is a rising celebrity.

Although he can no longer be the class's first cover star, Bill Rodgers still has his eye on being a future centerfold in The Economist. A few years back Bill went on an expedition to Kenya to study the African tea industry. It was while out in the tea fields that Bill began thinking that a planned economy was a pretty neat thing and that it would be really fun to tinker with charts and graphs and the fortunes of millions of people. After spending much of his summer at Temple University brushing up on his economics skills, Bill enrolled in the economics program at UC-Santa Barbara.

Not all '86s aspire to the pages of TheEconomist, preferring instead publications such as Scientific American. Among those with a technical twist is Byung Ye. In the past Byung has had leisurely summer jobs designing nuclear submarines. Now he has again taken the easy route by subjecting himself to Stanford's mechanical engineering program. Others to look for when reading Omni include Lynn Van Ummerson, who is studying deformed cells at the Dana Farber Cancer Clinic in Boston, Phil Bayly, who is studying engineering at Brown, and Alan Pulsifer, who is pursuing a master's of engineering at Columbia.

Look for Greg Labate's name to surface in People Magazine. Having perfected his game show-hosting technique, including the requisite kissing skills, Greg's face will doubtlessly flicker across the screen when you're home sick from work and have nothing better to do than watch morning TV (just like the shows you watched during summer vacation. Remember those days?). Before moving out to Hollywood, Greg has set up shop in D.C. where he works for a law firm. Living with Greg is Chris Wolf, who has joined forces with Lisa Gathard and Anne Mahoney at Strategic Planning Associates.

One classmate has already been mentioned in the Boston Globe's gossip pages. Jennifer Lyons was recently married (and I think still is married) to John Campbell, a graduate of Williams College. They honeymooned amongst the eskimos and walruses in Alaska and then returned to St. Thomas where Jennifer is involved with real estate.

Burgie Howard doubtlessly has been skimming through issues of Vogue trying to keep up with the latest fashion trends in order to impress his boss at G. Fox department store. Beth Riley is also enduring G. Fox's book camp in Hartford. A few other '86s have been lured into the world of high fashion. Claudine Belsky,Shantha Gona, Mark Batory, EverickBrown, and Rob Bilodeau are all with May department stores in Hartford.

Those of you that are still searching for the perfect job or are already pondering a career change, contact Robin Hitt. She's a headhunter down in Tampa. If you're lucky maybe she can find the perfect job for you and your scalp.

One fellow that won't be contacting Ro- bin is Jeff Bower. Jeff just landed a job with Kaufman Flaberth Capital Group, an investment bank in New York. He plans to room with three other junior investment bankers: Frank Lauterbur, Bill Furlong, and Lance Lazar. Before moving in with these guys Jeff spent a few nights at Walter Tsui's home, even though Walter was on the opposite side of the earth sampling authentic sushi in Japan, Taiwan, and China. Lots of these slimy creatures were devoured when Walter invaded a Chinese bar with Gemma Velten, Beau Gianinni, and Keith Noyes in Beijing. By now Walter has returned to American soil where he is toiling for Bain Consulting in Boston.
