Before proceeding with the litany concerning the new season's weddings and births, we present a few tidbits of news. From Coming, N Y., comes word that Peter Volanakis has become a manager in the ceramics division of the Corning Glass Works, where he has labored since 1982. Last March Bill Saufley became assistant vice president of Maine Savings Bank in Portland. Bill is the staff counsel for the bank, as well as secretary to the bank and The One Bancorp, the holding company for Maine Savings Bank. Bill is a graduate of the University of Maine School of Law.
Here in the hinterland Peter Alden has been named by the Society of Critical Care Medicine the recipient of the Fourth Annual In-Training Award, given to outstanding physicians involved in critical care medicine while still in training portion of their medical education. Peter's award was based on research performed as a surgical resident at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Cathy Cook Holmstrom writes that she and Garry had their first child, Anders Carl, Last January. The Holmstroms will be beached in Alexandria, Va., for another year while Garry, a navy commander, completes a tour of shore duty. Cathy notes that she is in constant communication with Marian Meijer Doorley. Marian and Frank '74 are entrenched in Ludington, Mich.
Osmun Skinner, secretary of the class of 1928 and one of my better sources of information, forwards a newsclip reporting the marriage of Richard Sarner to Sharyn Marion Frank. Sharyn is an account executive with a public relations agency in New York while Richard is an associate in a New York law firm.
This past winter Lon McClintock exchanged vows with Maureen Lee Matthews in Bennington, Vt. Lon is working as a lawyer for the Vermont Legal Aid Society, and Maureen is a social worker in Bennington. The couple are settled in a home in Eagle Bridge, N. Y., in the company of two geese Bud and Grace six ducks, five chickens, and three cats . and have the potential to add two lambs.
A cheery birth announcement arrived from Baltimore announcing the new presence of Katharine Ann, daughter of Sally and Mark Bertiaume. Katharine was born last May and weighed in at a lovely seven pounds, nine ounces.
