North Hill lifetime retirement community in Needham, Mass., where your scribe and wife, Bee, reside, has a constituency of 27 persons—nine men, seven wives, and 11 widows. A third annual convocation was held in September, when 20 gathered for cocktails in the private dining room followed by dinner. West Newton neighbor Bob Danziger, trustee of Dartmouth College who had just returned from a trustees' meeting in New York, was kind enough to share his thoughts and comments and answer questions. Bob's wife, Sarah supplemented his cordial expressions. The nine men who are residents at North Hill are Jack Benson '31, Ed Ferguson '18, Herb Home '23, Spider Martin '19, Don Nostrand '26, Ken Sampson '31, Tibby Thibodeau, honorary '29, John Wheatley '24, and Henry Whirtmore '26. (The contents of the above were furnished by my fellow secretary Don Norstrand who was a brother of our classmate, Leif.)
A note from his daughter, Elizabeth Peterson, reports that Stan Ungar's widow is a resident at Briarwood Nursing Home here in Needham. Cap Palmer writes from the west that he and Mildred are reasonably well even after the severe quakes around them. Cap's eyes, however, are still bothering him.
Chet and Barbara Bixby are at home. Barbara is quite disabled from a complication of problems. They had torn down their summer home at the lake and their son Ben has built a very fine new home there. PeteJones phones to say that Ort Hicks spoke before a South Shore Dartmouth meeting and did his usual excellent job.
John McGrath called to find out when our 65th Reunion will take place. It will be during commencement in 1988. Let's as many as possible set aside that time to have not the Last Hurrah but a preliminary to it.
