The most frequent contributor of news items to this column is the class of '28'secretary, Os Skinner. Among other 'things, he guards the New York Times on weekdays and sends me items which appear on classmate's marriages, marriages of their children, etc. He also provides the same service to other classes, and I assume that Darmouth has recognized his diligence. Recently, Os pointed out that fathers from his class account for 18 members of the class of '57: Wayne Andrus,Sam Bassett, Clyde Brownstone, DickCanton, Bruce Cutler, Bob Dennis, PeterDietz, Elliott Donnelley, Bob Grey,Mac Donald Heston, Carlton Hoagland,Frank Hoefle, Ted Jennings, Dick Norris,Deacon Thompson, Ken and Bob Tyson and Dick Van Riper. The following dads are still around and keeping their sons on an even keel: Messrs. Brownstone, Cutler, Grey, Hoefle, Jennings, and Van Riper.

The following is a list of a different kind: this column regularly recognizes classmates for their various accomplishments, promotions, or class activites. At the request of the College, I am publishing the following list of classmates Dartmouth has lost! They are: A 1 Burnes (he was practicing an alternative lifestyle at last report), Winchester Cooley, BrianCoyne, Bruce Cutler, Bruce Hack, JohnHagearty, Paul Hagedorn, Kris Hallgrimsson, Hugo Hartenstein, DavidIsaacson, Victor Kohl, Kim O'Brien, WaltPrindle, Berry Rogers, Gene Vance, Benito Vila, Herb Wahl, Don White and Charley Winters. Some of these guys might not realize they are lost. In any case, anyone knowing their whereabouts should contact Kelly White, Department of Research and Records, Dartmouth College, Blunt Alumni Center, Hanover, N.H. 03755. Also by the power vested in my office, I am forming a posse and asking Tommy "Hit Man" Schwarz and Tireless Bob Macdonald to check the New York and Boston telephone directories to see if any of the lost platoon is listed.

Here are some classmates who have made recent changes. Ron and Ruth Read have moved to Santa Ana, Calif., near San Diego. He had been with Bendix in the Boston area but is now with Midland Ross.

Jack Cramer has sold the family business and is at large. I wonder if he will now fulfill his dream and return to sunny California or have the charms of Buffalo finally taken hold?

Incidentally, somebody who has not left California, despite an erroneous report in this column, is Frank Bruni of San Diego. Somehow I had him leaving San Diego and heading for New York to better discharge the responsiblities he has as a national director of Deloitte, Haskins and Sells. Sorry!

On the other coast, John and KarenDonnelly have moved into a new house. John is also starting a high tech company.

Class agent Hanny Mason is continuing his rapid recovery from a ruptured disk and has lost 35 pounds. Recently he was in Boston to meet with Charles Clements of the College, plus Joe Stevenson,George Johnston and Jack Hall, to discuss this year's Alumni Fund drive. Be kind to Hanny as he moves his bones around the circuit to make sure that we all do right by Dartmouth. He made a successful December visit to San Francisco, where I had the chance to see his salesmanship during a couple of days of visits to classmates in the Bay area.

Dave Clements and I went to a lunch in Palo Alto, Calif., where the speaker was a leader of the micro chip industry and Bill Davidow was in attendance. Afterward, Dave and I tried to look up Don Klages of the class of '56 who runs a successful men's store. Unfortunately, Don was out. Incidentally, in case it got lost in the attempts at humor, Dave was a WITNESS for his company, Arthur Andersen, in a recent successful defense of the firm against a civil negligence suit. When he is not running the accounting business, he is a civic leader in San Jose with an impressive list of activities, including chairman of Junior Achievement, chairman of the University of Santa Clara Business School Board, a director of the San Jose Chamber of Commerce, and leadership positions in other organizations, including the United Way and the National Conference of Christians and Jews.

Finally, don't forget about the June 1517 reunion. This promises to be a great event. We will be staying in new dorms which are air-conditioned. Some of the outstanding events will be a concert led by Dave Cook and his Reinterpretation Jazz Band, a Glee Club concert led by Boston Pops conductor Eric Kunzel, and a Great Issues seminar led by Chris Wren of the New York Times and Dick Duncan of Time Magazine. If you haven't already made your reservations call reunion chairman Dan Goggin, but remember he gets snappish after midnight!
