I hope you have all had a great summer and are ready for a great football fall as a new era of Dartmouth football is about to be ushered in under the leadership of Coach Buddy Teevens. Buddy spoke at both Class Officers Weekend and the Annual Eastern Massachusetts Alumni Association Dinner. He promises exciting and fun football, so mark off the football weekends on your calendars and let's get together at all the great John Gillespie minireunions.

The Eastern Massachusetts Alumni Dinner gave many of us the opportunity to wish Dave and Judy McLaughlin well as they left the leadership of Dartmouth to President James Freedman. Seventeen classmates and fourteen '54 wives were in attendance at the Boston Dinner. They included Dick and Barbara Barker, Pete andTricia Bullis, Phil and Carol Chistophe,Dick and Audrey Lewis, Charlie and Frannie Morrison, John and Ginny Pope, Daveand Mary Thielscher, Dave and JudyMcLaughlin, Lou Milkey, Fred Alpert,Don and Joie Keller, Dick and Jane Brace,Gary and Ann Zwart, Chuck and Jean Myserian, and Jim Clark. It was a great turnout for a good friend.

Herb Hillman's charitable act of putting my name on the newsletter reply card has resulted in a rash of newsworthy items. My thanks to Herb and to all of you who wrote and provided the following news.

Joe Mesics writes from San Francisco that he and Mary were at the Intercollegiate Rugby National Championship play-offs in Monterey to watch Dartmouth represent the East. Joe writes that Bob Woodberry is still the enthusiastic owner of the professional rugby team "Old Blues," which Joe says is the best team in the U.S. Who would expect less of Woody, who must be this country's greatest proponent of rugby.

George Kingsley writes that he has moved to Rancho Bunardo in San Diego and will take over the New England Life office in Southern California, in addition to starting a financial planning and investment counseling firm. It sounds like everything is going great, since George has added 22 new people to his staff. Any guy who can find a way to move from Buffalo to San Diego and continue to grow professionally certainly has to be envied. George's new address is 12389 Avenue Consentido, San Diego, CA 92128.

Hugh Roberts writes from Stamford, Conn., that he has recently joined YORWERTH Associates, a firm specializing in oral communication and presentation skills. Hugh's work will focus on assisting corporate executives to improve and enhance their speaking skills. I would think your opportunities are limitless, Hugh. I am sure he would appreciate any leads as to potential clients. Write Hugh at 1815 Long Ridge Road, Stamford, CT 06903.

I can't improve on the card I got from Skip Weymouth, so I'll just quote him. "After 25 years, Carol and I have returned to where I found and married her. A long journey since I was a cub salesman for American Hospital Supply. New position as manager marketing support services for White & White Medical Supply: trying to. get everybody singing from the same song sheet. Married daughter Anne in St. Joe, Mich. Son Dan in Seattle. Son Mark entering Berklee College of Music (Boston). He has made me a jazz fusion nut!" Skip says his golf stinks, but knowing him I wouldn't put my money on it, would you?

It was great to get a card from Phil Kaiser, from whom we haven't heard in a long time. Phil has moved to a new home at 2447 River Forest Drive, Mobile, Ala., a place on the Dog River where "I look forward to watching a bobbing cork, hoping the fish don't bite." Phil has been with Mercantile Department Stores since getting out of the Air Force after Tuck School. He has been president of .Gayfers Department Stores in Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida for 11 of his 29 years with Mercantile. Those in the retail business are well aware of Mercantile's outstanding performance in general and Gayfers' great growth specifically. A great career, Phil, but how about coming back and seeing some old friends?

Congratulations to Pete Barker on his election as an at-large member of the Alumni Council. Pete's son Bill '81 was married in May to a classmate from the Kellogg graduate school at Northwestern. Pete continues in his position as a financial vice president of CBS Fox. With thanks to the home video business he must be a hero in the CBS family. Pete is traveling in heavy circles because he writes that he saw Don Keller at the "Predator's Ball"—the Drexel Burnham blast in Los Angeles. My thanks to all of you for the newsworthy cards. Don't stop! Keep writing.
