It is somewhat comforting to know that this class column, which is being craftily composed from almost no input in the hot blast of August, will be read in the coolness of October when everyone is back to work and communicating once again. From this 90°+ vantage point, October seems a long way off. But then I am not being paid for reveries but for crack reporting.

First Fidelity Bank, N.A. of Newark, N.J., recently made an excellent choice; IrwinKramer was promoted to vice president in the bank's investment department. Irwin has been with First Fidelity since 1982, after gaining his financial spurs with Bankers Trust in New York. As some of you know, Irwin and his wife, Barbara, are still getting used to the wilds (?) of Englewood, N.J., after a big-city life. Apart from this ongoing adjustment, they both keep busy with house renovations, travel, and volunteer work at a local cultural center for performing arts. Allen Greenbaum, of the Mesa (Ariz.) Greenbaums, writes that the ambience from our 25th Reunion still hangs on. Allen and Calli's son Joseph, who was 9 months old last June, is now talking away and will probably learn the new words of "Men of Dartmouth" long before I do. Allen's daughter Kim is a senior at the University of California at San Diego and will be spending her fall semester at Dartmouth. Allen reports that Dave Bergman is still flourishing as a transplanted Westerner.

From our listening post in Bucharest, Rumania, Henry Clarke voices his objections to the College's handling of the Dartmouth Review students. Henry believes that students have a right to openly criticize faculty members. To date, Tom Komarek and I have heard both pro and con viewpoints regarding the Review Stew; your comments?

For the third straight month, I have to report the death of a '62 classmate. KenBailes died last March 28 in Kansas City, Mo. Ken had been a professor of history at the University of California (Irvine). A full obituary will appear in this magazine and our collective class sympathy goes to Ken's family at this time.
