It is hard to beat Hanover any time of the year, but I find that I spend an especially large amount of time each fall devising ways to move north. What a glorious spot the Upper Valley is this time of year.

News from an equally spectacular New England state: Mark Jacobs has been appointed to the active staff of St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, Maine. Mark earned his medical degree from the University of Connecticut, after which he completed a twoyear fellowship in cardiology at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Boston. He also served as staff cardiologist at Braddock General Hospital and performed cardiac catheterization as staff cardiologist at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh. Whew! You really have gotten around, Mark.

Another classmate who is involved in medical pursuits is Kenneth Cohen. Ken was recently appointed vice president of marketing and business development for Lifecell Corporation, a Houston-based biotechnology company. Ken came to Lifecell after spending ten years at Eli Lilly. Lifecell has commercialized a revolutionary new patented process for low temperature preparation of cells and tissues for analysis and potential transplantation. After Dartmouth, Ken received a master's in business from Wharton.

Congratulations to Steffi Valar, who was married to Ed Hauk on July 30 in Franconia, N.H. And thanks to Naomi BalineKleinmann who provided the information. Brewer Doran flew in from California, where she runs an aviation business, teaches at a business school, and bakes. Naomi says they enjoyed Swiss chocolate fondue and sang "the only words we knew to 'Men of Dartmouth.' " What more does a wedding need?!

From Winnetka, I1., came some rather remarkable news from Andy Shaw from which I will quote: "On the same day (May 14, 1988) on the same golf course (Indian Hill, Winnetka) and in the same tournament, Jeff Hillebrand and I both had holesin-one (he on No. 10, 145 yards., I on No. 13, 185 yds.) It's nice to have classmates who will come to the rescue when you are facing a big bar bill!" Andy's and Jeffs families are also living in the same neighborhood! Andy says, "I'd say the Hillebrands are about a drive and a five iron away from me and my wife, Julie, and daughter Sarah."

That's all she wrote I'm off to prepare for the two sections of the organizational behavior course I am teaching this fall at Babson College. I will be checking the mailbox regularly and expecting more news from all of you out there in alumni land!

Congratulations to Dartmouth College as she commemorates 15 years of coeducation. Because our class played such a significant role in the advent of coeducation, I hope many of our classmates were able to attend the week of events (September 1925) celebrating the anniversary.

"In endorsing both coeducation and the Dartmouth Plan for year-round operation, we are acting to assure that Dartmouth will continue to serve as a leader in innovation in undergraduate education . . .Dartmouth has traditionally put its highest priority on the quality of its undergraduate program, and it is our hope that this major new experiment will make Dartmouth even more attractive to young men and women who prize freedom of choice."John G.Kemeny, as quoted in The Dartmouth, November 22, 1971.
