It was interesting to hear that receipt of a 1926 birthday greeting card can be very meaningful. Oppie Opdyke, after an unusually dedicated medical career, has been in a nursing home for nearly a year following a heart attack. The wall of his room was covered with get-well and birthday cards which his wife, Lee, said he finally removed except for one. On the wall opposite his chair he taped the '26 card on which were shown Dartmouth Row and the words of Dartmouth Undying.

The one who shared the above story with his classmates was George Scott, for as head agent for the Alumni Fund he keeps in touch with everyone in the class. His outstanding record of success in leading 1926 to yet another Green Derby victory is due to such caring work for both class and College.

Charlie Macdonald took time off from other travel to visit for two beautiful days picturesque Monhegan Island, 12 miles off Muscongus Bay, Maine. Nine other former residents of Waban, Mass., including DonNorstrand, made up the group. The five couples enjoyed the company of Ad Winship '42 for breakfast at the Inn one morning. Ad and wife Kiki are considered natives by their fellow-islanders through their ownership of a harborside fishing shack which they made into an attractive summer home.

Some time ago Ritchie Smith, Orinda, Calif., planned a trip to Hanover because his granddaughter Elizabeth, a high school senior, was interested in seeing Dartmouth, but his doctor vetoed his going. However, daughter Debbie, who masterminded his being at the 60th Reunion, made up a foursome and came in July anyway—she, Elizabeth, other daughter Dana who's a high school freshman, and her sister-in-law. Tubba and Barbara Weymouth welcomed them, as well as Pense Cleary and Arlene St. Clair who had hoped to see Ritchie. They all gathered at the Weymouths, with natives Sally Drury, Ed Emerson,Dick Eberhart, and Les and Dot Talbot. After Hanover Pense and Arlene traveled to Falmouth, Mass., to visit Billie Rankin and Tom and Marian Floyd-Jones.

Sadly, at press time, we have learned of Ritchie Smith's death. A fuller report will follow.
