After an all-too-brief siesta, we're back—with a mailbag full of news and notes. While we were gone, Mike Everett was named senior vice president and chief administrative officer of Raychem Corporation, a Menlo Park, Calif.-based materials science company with $l.l billion in sales. Mike joined Raychem in 1987 as vice president and general counsel after 13 years of private law practice.

Dr. Carl Soderland recently joined North Shore Comprehensive Care, a multispecialty group practice in Danvers, Beverly, and Ipswich, Mass., where he was appointed acting medical director. Before that he practiced internal medicine in Ipswich for six years and served as medical director at GTE Sylvania in Danvers.

Jeff McElnea writes that the past summer was unusually eventful for the McElnea clan. "After selling my company, Einson- Freeman, Inc., to WPP Group plc—the billion-dollar marketing services congomerate that owns J. Walter Thompson, Hill & Knowlton, and 47 other companies-I was remarried in August to Judy Baumann of New York City, with my two sons, Billy 10, and Patrick 7, ushering and bearing the rings, respectively. The engagement was in Venice, the wedding in Madison, Conn., and all's well now living in Manhattan."

From Don O'Neill, we received word that ten years after completing his M.B.A. in finance at the University of Connecticut, he has finally put it to good use. "I transferred from the insurance side of The Hartford to its real estate subsidiary, HRA. My title is asset manager, which means that I oversee leasing, property management, and eventual sale of a portfolio of commercial real estate. Speaking of real estate, we recently built a new house in the Litchfield hills of Connecticut, near Ski Sundown. Classmates are invited to stop in, en route to or from skiing."

More real estate news: Steve Goldstein joined the real estate section of the Boston law firm of Palmer & Dodge last July, specializing in the acquisition, financing, and development of residential and resort timeshare and quartershare projects.

Riches to Rags Department: John Short recently resigned from Citibank after almost 11 years to take a job as deputy managing director of Far East operations of the Esprit group of companies. In addition to the move from banking to the rag trade, Ethel, Sam 7, Berea 6, Lisa 3, and John are in the process of buying a flat and moving into Hong Kong after almost three years there.

John writes: "We'd love to hear from anyone who might be passing through Hong Kong on their way somewhere."

Finally, a hearty "welcome aboard" to Craig Robelen in sunny Boca Raton, Fla., as our newest newsletter editor and our sincere thanks to editor emeritus Steve Zrike. That's all for now. We'll be back with more next month.
