'Tis the merrie, merrie month . . . but you knew that. My mind is meandering midst mellow memories of Green Keys and hummms and the awesome Tuck U Terrors flailing all softball competitors on the softball diamonds on the Green once the duckboards were removed. Well, except for the Betas. Angry letters of protest asking why we forgot carving canes while seated on the senior fence should be addressed to the editor.

There is some chance that you'll read this before the polls close, but the mails being what they are, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. There's an election afoot for Trustees, ballots were mailed in April, and results will be tallied the week of May 15. If you haven't voted and haven't lost your franchise ticket, stand up and be counted. Candidate is Robert A. Danziger '56, Tuck '57, who was nominated for a second fiveyear term. Contender is Wilcomb E. Washburn '48. Both are "loyal sons who love her" but only one can win. Darn.

Last fall Eric Miller was quoted in Institutional Investor. He favored "sin" taxes, among other things, to help reduce the federal budget. Why the quotation marks, Rick? Do you know something we don't? Somehow The New york Times has collected more ink about classmates and the College than you can shake a stick at. For example, on February 16 the headline was, "Tax Claim Rejected." Against Hallmark, that is. It was by-lined Kansas City, Mo., home of Don J. Hall (actually 6320 Aberdeen Rd., Shawnee Mission, KS 66208). Bob Sisk (123 Dram Hill Rd., Wilton, CT 06897) was the attorney,of the firm that won the victory and saved megabucks for the Hall family foundations so their charitable works would not be impaired.

Then a week later we got "Frank Gilroy: The Subject is Movies." Among other things, Frank said, "I didn't realize that (non-play) ideas could be made into movies or novels. I hope I live long enough to write about all the ideas that have come to me. So do we, Frank.

In the following week we had "Indians at Dartmouth" (there are 103 undergraduate native Americans now, only 12 graduated in the first 200 years), a piece about Ivy League frosh applications (ours were down from last year's crest), and the Sunday Magazine artide, "At Dartmouth: The Clash of '89" (they misspelled Occom Pond). On March 10 The Times said, "Judge Limits Punitive Claims for Products." If your liability insurance has gone through the roof (whose hasn't?), you'll applaud Lee Sarokin's decision.

Do we have room to remind you to send along your Alumni Fund donation (preferably increased)? Early in the campaign we had a good start, but if you think about the theme" jack Harlow has given us —"The gifts are for the students" —maybe you can send a little more.

Sorry to report that Pete Reilly passed away January 24 in Boston. Our sympathy to his"family and friends. We'll be back to you this summer, if you'll share your news with . . .
