Alec Mackenzie has agreed to complete the term of head agent Dana Prescott, who died on July 3. Alec has been a loyal worker in the Dartmouth vineyard for many years as a regional agent for New York City and Long Island. This past year, when our class exceeded the participation goal by 2 percent and our dollar objective by $5,000, Alec assumed the position of participation chairman. We are fortunate that Alec readily agreed to serve our class in this important position when challenged by President Fenn.

Lem Bowen, associate head agent, and Jane Handrahan, memorial gifts coordinator, will work with Alec.

Many 50th wedding anniversaries are being celebrated by '37 classmates as well as 75th birthdays. Bud and Mims Butterworth celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Squam Lake, N.H., with friends and family members, including Will and Nan Brown, and Fran and Mary Fenn. Bud's three Dartmouth sons were also there. Bud must hold the class record for the most children graduating from Dartmouth. Congratulations to Bud and Mims!

During recent days in Hanover Jud and Beth Smith, Russ and Lee Stearns, Carl and Carolyn Erdman, John and Nancy Milne, Lem and Elizabeth Bowen, Fran and Mary Fenn, and Bob and Liz McCoy, helped Bowen and Erdman celebrate their 75th birthdays. In Marathon, Fla., Ben and Marge Doran's family assembled to mark his 75th birthday.

In a unique way '37 people are contributing to the quality of student life at Dartmouth, Kappa Kappa Gamma, a sorority, has a grandfathers' council which meets and advises the sorority members on various subjects. 1937 grandfathers include Lem Bowen, Fran Fenn, Bob McCoy, and Russ Stearns. In July the sorority entertained the grandfathers with a picnic and croquet game. Strenuous stuff for grandfathers. The Kappa Gamma house is adjacent to the parking area where we have lunch before the mini-reunion football games.

Jud Smith's wife, Beth, is the advisory board chairman of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. In July Beth attended the sorority's Grand Convention in Palm Desert, Calif., with the Dartmouth delegates. Beth's proud that Kappa Alpha Theta has been recognized for academic excellence and it has won the cup from the Dean's office for the best all around Greek society. Brothers, take notice.

When visiting the Hanover environs, there are numerous cultural things to do and see. Hood Museum always has great exhibitions. The Montshire Museum of Science, formerly on Lyme Road, is now located in an exciting new facility across the Connecticut River in Norwich. The "hands on" exhibits will keep grandchildren busy for an afternoon and interest you as well. Your secretary was intrigued when an attendant took a boa constrictor from the cage and draped it around her neck. You'll see physics and mathematics in a whole new light with the wave of a magic wand, or by launching balls into orbit while tracing their trajectories.

We regret to report that Max Polster died on May 28 while vacationing in Holland.
