This is the last time ... final opportunity to remind you that the Fabulous 40th Reunion, a real "Touch of Class" affair, will take place next month in Hanover, June 11-14, Monday till Thursday. You should have sent in your intentions long ago ... and deadline for deposits is May 25 ($70 per person) to EdTuck at 10 Kingsford Road, Hanover See you there?
NAUTICAL NOTE ... Joe Stehlin has been in the commercial shipping business (now in Jacksonville) since 1976 when he bought a 65-foot trawler while in the real estate business in Fort Lauderdale. Now he and Harriette run Green Cove Maritime along with their three sons, mostly hauling freight to the Bahamas. Didn't say so in time for the roster of attendees in the last 5ifty, but he will be at Reunion.
GATOR AID ... Larry Huntley is another Floridian (Gainesville) who will leave the alligators behind in June to make a "local" trip to New Hampshire ... last year he went to Scotland and up the Mississippi and plans Nova Scotia next.
Also a late entry ("going to try to do both") is Mar Benner from Orlando who has a family as well as '50 Reunion. So there's just one day between them. You can make it, Mar.
CALIFORNIA COLLEAGUES . . . Patty and Gene Carver (Palos Verdes) are making the trek after seeing old roomie EdHale (Tupper Lake, N.Y.) and Bobbi last summer. Tell Ed to take a couple of days off from The Watertown Daily Times ... the news will wait but we won't.
George Harris (San Diego) sent along a videotape ("A Way of Learning") produced by the Native American Council at Dartmouth. It's great. Be sure you see it as a reminder that your alma mater "stands for excellence in education." While he's retaining his uke in the tent, ask George how you can help with the NAD Program. Seems very worthwhile.
Tom Ruggles will be on the mandolin or banjo with George in Hanover and saw Dick Ribble (Dana Point, brokerage service) w hile in the San Diego area. Rib's a no-show. Darn.
Joe Gilchrist retired to San Mateo three years ago after 36 with Bechtel. Doesn't miss Houston a bit but we were sorry to learn that Caroline passed away last year.
Another West Coaster, Ted Bamberger, will have his heart in Hanover, not San Francisco (actually Danville, just east of Oakland) in June. Has to attend a trade fair in Europe to promote U.S.-made fishing tackle. You buy that? Last year he reuned with Annie and Tom O'Connell near LaGuardia, Spain. Tom was on sabbatical from Bellevue Community College, but is back in Seattle now.
Frank Barker returned to Tubac City, Ariz., in April after a stint in Michigan previously reported. Good to know he'll be back for the 40th even if he's a state short of being a West Coast resident.
PREXY PARADE ... Ray King (Ambler, Pa.) is president of Morefar Marketing and in charge of automated business underwriting for The New Hampshire. Insurance company ... right?
Service Company the end of February. He's been with New York Tel since 1954.
Room has run out, so just a final reminder that the Alumni Fund merits your generous gift. Make it soon and make it as much as you can to testify to our "Touch of Class."
