Among this month's news is word that Jim Smith, president and chief executive officer of Waterbury and Webster Financial Corporation, has been re-elected chairman of the Connecticut Savings and Loan League, a trade association representing the legislative interests of its savings association members, a group with more than $12 billion in total assets. He recently completed a term as a member of the board of directors of the New England League of Savings Institutions.

Tim Barron was recently appointed as president of Dole Dried Fruit & Nut Division of Dole Food Company, a division of Castle & Cooke, Inc. Tim joined Dole more than 12 years ago, held positions in the company's banana, pineapple, tree fruit, and citrus businesses, most recently serving as president of the dried fruit segment. He and his wife, Leslie, are the parents of two daughters, Nicole and Brittany, and live in Fresno, Calif., where the division is headquartered.

Dr. Kevin Kane is president of medical staff and a member of the board of directors of KVMC in Maine. Kevin, who lives in Hallowell, is a Maine affiliate board member of the American Heart Association, serves on the Maine High Blood Pressure Council, and is a member of the Maine Medical Association.

John Colangelo was recently reelected as town judge in the Town of Rye, N.Y. He had previously served as a member of the Rye Town Council. In addition to his judicial duties, John is a partner in the law firm of Gioffre, Gioffre, Gallo & Colangelo and lives in Port Chester with his wife, Denise, and their two children, Christina and Julie.

The class executive committee recently completed a successful meeting at the College's Minarv Conference Center on Squam Lake in Holderness, N.H., to begin planning for our 20th Reunion. John Shanahan will serve as our reunion chairman. MichaelMaynard reported on the progress of the Alumni Fund effort: our current year's goal is 71 percent participation and $140,000 in fiving for the class. Our reunion target is $500,000. Special thanks are due both Michael and class president John Colangelo, who spearheaded the organization of the weekend meeting.
