Our 45th Reunion is approximately nine months from now. Mark it on your calendar and send a reservation to Ted Smith at 483 Franklin Street, Reading, MA 01861. A check for $45 per person as a deposit will bring the video of the 40th Reunion or the audio tape of the 1960 Dartmouth Glee Club. Do it now.

Bob Hausman is still serving as chairman of Loews Hotels and his longtime service (23 years) with the organization has led to close ties with Prince Ranier II of Monaco and the chairmanship of the American branch of the Princess Grace Foundation. Serving with him on the board of the organization, which provides grants to emerging artists in theater, dance, and film, are Nancy Reagan, Prince Albert and Princess Stephanie of Monaco, and Mrs. Cary Grant (who succeeded her late husband). Also as part of Bob's commitment to the community he serves on the board of the 92 nd Street YMCA in Manhattan.

Another classmate still working at his profession is Richard Hewlett, a historian who recently shared prizes with a co-author from the Organization of American Historians and the Society of History in the Federal Government. The prize-winning book is Atoms for Peace and War, 1953-1961, Eisenhower and the Atomic Energy Commission. Richard is senior vice president of History Associates Incorporated of Rockville, Md., and chief historian of the Atomic Energy Commission.

A Logan Airport call from Geoff Maclay en route from Nantucket to Milwaukee brought news that he and Edie are well and that he is still managing real estate interests in Wisconsin. He had prepared their home for summer use by children and renters and both of them will return in September for the best time of the New England year. Geoff has taken on the job of chief fundraiser for his 50th reunion at Albany Academy which will precede our 45th and which should lead both the Maclays to Hanover.

And Warren Agry should also be able to head north after chairing his class's 50th reunion at Deerfield Academy the preceding weekend. A lot of you who went to secondary school in the Northeast will be having 50th reunions and if you are on the fence combine the two of them and see a lot of old friends.

A recent phone call to Joe Guattery brought news that he is still involved in his internal medicine practice and hopes to retire before too long. He is still paying tuition (one daughter in college) and his other five children are in various fields. Another daughter is a Ph.D. while a third is a nutritionist. In addition the Guatterys have three sons who are a chef, a lawyer, and a plumbing and electrical contractor. Joe has always been a loyal '45 and he promised to think seriously about joining us next June.

In review there is a lot of reunion hype above but remember that there are a lot of classmates (as well as 1946s and 19475) working and hoping to see you. In the meantime have a great fall and let us hope that publicized, ill-advised, and thoughtless commencement remarks do not affect efforts to recruit Dartmouth students.
