Mid-summer news doldrums, I guess. Nobody likes to write me . . . not withstanding that Dartmouth children appear to like Dartmouth and vice versa. I called the admissions office, which provided me with the following legacy information concerning our class 38 children from the class of '64 applied, of whom 15 (39 percent) were accepted. This is consistent with legacies traditionally being accepted at twice the rate of other applicants. Of the 15 receiving acceptances, 12 are coming. The '64 children who will be in the class of 1995 are Aviva Bender, daughter of Michael L. Bender; O. Josh Bloom, son of Michael Bloom; Alison K. Cook, daughter of Willard E. Cook Jr.; Molly Corrigan, daughter of Fredric W.Corrigan; Alex S. Goldenberg, son of Michael R. Goldenberg; Daniel S. Isaacson, son of H. Richard Isaacson; Natasha S. Kindergan, daughter of John F. KinderganJr.; Alexa S. Lessow, daughter of Richard J.Lessow; C. Bradley Marx, son of James M.Marx; Molly K. McDougal, daughter of W.Scott McDougal; Jonathan J. Prescott, son of Robert C. Prescott; and Emily B. Ridgway, daughter of E. Chester Ridgway III. Congratulations to the children and parents . . . our seven classmates with daughters now will have an extra appreciation of the joys of coeducation.

News is that Scott H. Creelman is the vice president and general manager of international operations for Spalding Sports Worldwide of Chicopee, Mass. According to the New England Business magazine article which sports a large picture of Scott, he finds himself in charge of the largest potential worldwide market in the sports equipment market. We are confident that Scott is up to the challenges of integrating his knowledge with all of the cultural adaptations needed to market in Eastern Europe and Asia.

I recently reported that Roger H. Hull had been elected as the 17th president of Union College. During his inauguration speech, Roger announced a new financial aid program at Union that will provide student loans that can be cancelled for those who take public service jobs after graduation. The program, called Chester Arthur Undergraduate Support of Excellence (CAUSE), was recently announced. We wish Roger great luck in his job.
