Ken, who heads the firm's business law section, will now be responsible for managing 200 lawyers in Boston and Washington, no small challenge considering the recent decline of another legendary Boston firm, Gaston & Snow. Ken and Marianne, an art consultant, live on Beacon Street and have four children, Laura, Elizabeth, Kate, and little Jeffrey, age 4. A Harvard graduate, Ken, who enjoys tennis and reading, took his crew for a jaunt to the Caribbean for a well-deserved rest.

Bob Nassau, formerly president of Amdura, a hardware distributor, and executive vice president of J.I. Case, an agricultural firm, has been named president and chief executive officer of Allied Plywood Corp., Dedham Mass. Allied, a subsidiary of PLY GEM Industries, New York, is a supplier of speciality woods for the home improvement industry. He is credited with turning that company around from losses and take-over threats to excellent profitability and good financial health. Along the way the crane business was divested, and Amhoist became a leading manufacturer of hydrants, valves, forged fittings and other good stuff. Bob and AnnRae have three children.

A UConn law graduate, Jim's ties to Dartmouth were cemented by the marriage of son Gilbert '86 to Bonnie Schwartz '85, daughter of Peter Schwartz '61.

Tom Holzel, Concord, Mass., hunts varmints specifically crows, an art he describes vividly in his new book, The Air RifleHunter's Guide (Velocity Press, 1991, $25 from the Dartmouth Bookstore). Scholastic track star, climber of Mt. Everest, lover of books, CEO of a computer company, Tom took up varmint hunting recently with a "magnum" air rifle, a feat he compares closely with fly rod fishing. "You have not lived until you have tried to creep up to within 60 yards of a sharpeyed crow," said Tom. "If I do not clear the suburban farms I hunt of this villainous varmint, at least I will have cleared the cobwebs of my mind in the effort. And sauntering around in the wood sure beats running."

Steve Kardon a radiologist at New York's Lincoln Hospital, prefers tennis to hunting, indoors at night several times a week. Healthcare and religion are integral to the kardons life. Wife Nataline also an M.D., runs a lab that does genetic testing, often prenatal tests recommended for women over 35. Son David, Yeshiva University '91, studies medicine at Albert Einstein, his dad's alma mater. Brian is a sophomore at Yeshiva and Aaron attends Westchester Hebrew High School. Steve, a self-styled "Hebrew school truant," was introduced to Orthodox Judaism by Nataline "My work at Lincoln Hospital is never boring," said Steve, who also plays cello. "We seem to get the worst cases of everything."
