With 1991 a reality we now have to begin serious thinking about our 45th Reunion, June 10-13. Joining us will be '45 and "47 with several joint programs planned, including a symposium on environmental concerns and a dance to the music of the Newport Opera House Big Band. Also, past members of the Glee Club from the classes of '45, '46, '47, and '5l, or other interested singers, are being urged by Harry Hampton '45 to participate at the Alumni Dinner scheduled for Monday, June 10, in Thompson Arena. For further details I suggest you write Harry directly at 221 Pine Orchard Road, Branford, CT 06405.

A number of us have agreed to write to former '46 teammates, fraternity brothers, Outing Club members, etc., urging reunion attendance and the possibility of mini gatherings during the reunion period. If you have by now decided to come, why not get in touch with close friends, teammates or clubmates and urge them to join you. If you need specific addresses and/or phone numbers, please drop me a line.

Even though we achieved a record $141,415 in 1989-90 Alumni Fund giving for classes 44 years out, we really have our work cut out to achieve our reunion-year goal of $404,646. This is 2.86 times our 1989-1990 record, but with the great leadership of Head Agent Welles Fendrich, Art O'Hara, and the other agents it is achievable.

I Had the pleasure last October of meeting Joe and Carol Brennan on Main street in Hanover. Both looked great, are still living in Basking Ridge, N.J., and just might be talked into returning for the 45th!

Jack Whitman reports that he spent a great deal of time during Club Officer's Weekend in November with Jack and Ann Witte. The Toledo, Ohio, residents hope to make the 45th. Also in attendance were Earle and NormaStaples from Keene, N.H.

From Corrush, N.H., neighbor Fritz Hier '44 comes word of Nelson Bryant. Nelson still resides in W. Tisbury, Mass., on Martha's Vineyard, and has recently joined the ranks of the semi-retired after a distinguished career in journalism. Following 16 years with the Claremont (N.H.) Daily Eagle, Nelson joined the New York Times in 1967, penning the column "Wood, Field, and Stream," later changed in title to "Outdoors." He has decided to reduce his work load by doing a weekly column for the Times on a freelance basis.

Ray and Sue DeWees visited the Hanover area and Dune and Ruth Fitchet during the Thanksgiving Holiday. Currently living in Ireland, they were also visiting their son in Boston as well as checking out real estate in the Upper Valley.

Buol Hinman sends the sad news of the death of Fred Caswell on October 18. A native and life-long resident of Rome, N.Y., Fred was active in his church, the Lions Club, and the regional dental society. Sincere condolences are extended to his wife, Joyce, and to the other family members.
