You are truly wanted at the mini-reunion which will take place Sept. 27-29. It's not too late to arrange it. Simmons College awarded their degree of Doctor of Humane Letters to Al Finlay saying, "Your ethics and sensibility to others, coupled with your wonderful analytical mind have served us superbly." As finance committee chairman of trustees he quintupled their endowment and kept them always in the black. How well we chose to have Al give our address to the College at commencement.

Duke Barto, our longtime president and strength of '29, has died after two heart attacks and a stroke. Duke received a well-earned Alumni Award at our fiftieth. Bill Davenport reports that Joe Ruff died of a stroke, and Herb Christman '30 writes that WillChristman died from heart failure.

I'm to fill in for Duke with JanetWoodbridge on bequests and trusts, and Maty Lougee will be secretary while I do obits and verses. (Verses and reverses?) Larry isn't too mobile, but we get the help of his good brain while we get another wife into our act. Wives are the strength of' 29.

Paul Babcock died last March. After freshman year Paul transferred to Brown, where he starred at football and graduated with honors. He sent two sons to Dartmouth, Paul HI '67 and Ernie '7O, who was football captain.

We were reminded happily of MarvBraverman when his wife, Anne, sent a memorial gift for John S. Dickey.

I was invited to be with the class of '21 at their 70th Reunion at commencement. A real bonus on the weekend was a visit with KatyBlack. We talked about her fine book Sun inthe North, on their life in Argentina, and I was thrilled to go learn about Dick and Katy's wonderful scholarships for the Medical School. Our head agent sets an example we can all be proud to support.

A fun talk with Web Goodwin made me wonder what Dartmouth would be today if that self-styled "unreconstructed Yankee" had his way.

Closing thought inspired by hospital work: You can't tell a church from its steeple Or a wine from the size of the grapes, And you'll find that the loveliest people May come in the funniest shapes.
