53 Perhaps you noticed a star in the East July 14. On that day we welcomed the newest '53 legacy, Lian Folger, daughter of Dave and JanetFolger. Thus is '53's leadership and competence demonstrated anew. The event was reported to us by MartyDegennaro. He tells me Lian is a Chinese name, and, as a striking coincidence, the Folgers happened to be in China nine months earlier. We repeat, this is not a grandchild!

Dave is with the U.S. Geological Survey at Woods Hole, and, we assume, is working on "Jaws IV". Marty is still working at Smith Barney in New Haven and seeing Dick Lena occasionally. Preparing for the next generation, Norm Carpenter announced a tripleplay: two kids married within six weeks and a third going to the altar in October, so he says not to plan on him at mini-reunions this fall.

New England may be down and out, but our vacationers are trying to turn it around. Bob Simpson and Jack Zimmerman (parttime) are back here for the summer. Bob went down to a board meeting at Burnham Cos. (greenhouses) outside Philadelphia, of which John Dodge is chairman, and ran into Tim Thomas on the plane back to Boston. Tim was on die way to their summer place on Deer Isle, Maine. Bob Callender and Father Ed Boyle were recently up (or Down East) at the Paganuccis' place in Waterville, Maine.

Gerry Grady has now returned stateside to Binghamton, N.Y., after a four-year stint as manager of the posh Jumby Bay development, just a quick boat ride from Antigua. Gerrywent to a recent gathering at the Bohemian Grove to make sure that Tony Frank and BobMalin weren't acting up.

Bob Derzon is back at work after a stroke earlier this year. When I called his office, he was visiting his father in Hawaii and was planning to be in Hanover this fall as a trustee of the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

All you Tuckies would be impressed by the Byrne Center now in construction, so take a look when you're up this fall.

Remember '53's 40th, June 14—17!
