81 Well, it's happened. A goof of mammoth proportions. At least to Lon Povich, that is. Lon graciously informed me of my error in the summer magazine: "Imagine how surprised I was to read in this month's DAM Column, 'Lon Povich and his wife, Gail, and a daughter are living in Asheville, N.C. Gail is a doctor, and Steve is working for Amway.'" Lon then proceeded to set me straight. "I am married to Ilissa and we have a daughter, Emily (20 months). However, we live in Wellesley, Mass.; and Ilissa is a lawyer not a doctor. I do not recall ever having gone by the name 'Steve,' but at Dartmouth, on some nights, anything was possible. I know Amway sells 'household products' but I'm an assistant U.S. attorney in Boston, prosecuting white-collar-crime cases. (Hopefully, I'm doing as good a job as Bodner!)"

Apparently, Lon had quite a time convincing Ilissa that he didn't have a "second life" (with Gail) below the Mason-Dixon line.

As you may have guessed, my two-year-old son (or something) grabbed a bite out of that column so that Lon Povich and StevePignatello mysteriously merged. So, with apologies to Lon, Ilissa, and Steve, here is the missing piece of that fateful column, and I hope the facts are right this time.

On to some first-round news. PatsyFisher-Harris had her first baby, Anna Fisher Harris, in May. Patsy is back at work for the College. Patsy reports a "wild" reunion with Gail Chen, Judy Yun, and Lucy Irwin. Unfortunately, much of the wildness was due to Gail's new baby, Kayla, Lucy's boy Stuart, born in May, and Judy's two boys John and Sam. Add in one big dog, and apparendy the result was utter chaos (but fun). Patsy also reports that Joni Nichols is doing well out in Palo Alto, where she is doing research in oncology and hematology at Stanford. Joni and her husband have a little two-year-old named Stephen.

I am sad to report that Scott Taylor died in early June of complications arising from treatment for Hodgkin's disease. Scott had been battling the disease since he was at Dartmouth. A full obituary will appear in a future issue.
