We mentioned the pols swarming New Hampshire a couple months ago. Now of course they're swarming the nation . We didn't realize we'd have a candidate quite so close at hand as Mark Farnham, former mayor of Lebanon, N.H., who recently threw his hat in the ring as a candidate for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Warren Rudman. Mark is determined to outdo Jerry Brown in unique campaigning, saying he's running "a serious word-of-mouth campaign and anyone who wants to donate to his cause should instead give to the rebuilding fund for the Lebanon United Methodist Church, whose historic 160-year-old structure was recently consumed in an arson blaze.

We've also mentioned that Gary Mayo or West Lebanon, N.H., was named New England Insurance Agent of the Year. But this vice president and treasurer of A.B. Gile does a lot more than insurance. Active as well in civic and charitable activities, he is president- elect of New Hampshire Special Olympics, has served as campaign chair and director of the United Way of the Upper Valley, referees high school basketball games, and is our reunion chair.

Moving farther west (we could be alphabetical, but why not be geographic?), there was news of the appointment of Kevin Kenny to the G.E. Research and Development Center in Schenectady, N.Y., as a computer scientist. Kevin was principal software engineer at Honeywell Information Systems in Phoenix 1977-84, received his M.S. in electrical engineering in 1983 from Arizona State and a Ph.D. in computer science in 1990 from U. of Illinois, and worked at Northrop Research Technology Center in Palos Verdes, Calif., from 1990-91.

From an even more westerly direction came news of Jan Malcolm's new responsibilities in Minneapolis. She is vice president of public policy and programs for Group Health Inc., a non-profit, member-owned, multi-specialty group practice and managed care delivery system offering a range of HMO and other benefit plans and serving more than 300,000 individuals. Jan will now also be directing their affiliated health plan in St. Cloud, joining the Central Minnesota Group Health Plan's board of directors, and overseeing any future expansion beyond the metropolitan area. All of you concerned about national health plans take note we have an expert among us!

The next time you hear from us will be our secretarial swan-song as we report any news trickling in through reunions or before. So, now's your chance for fame and glory send no money now, just rumor, gossip, or innuendo about yourself or classmates!
