33 It was an aneurism in the aorta which sidelined your correspondent and prevented our submission of a May column. Be advised that repair has been effected and we are getting back to normality. However, our indisposition provided the opportunity for Emmy Hobbs to furnish an outstanding example of courage and devotion. Unknown to us, she was battling a fatal disease, but she stepped in and did not only the '33 May column, but also completed the June Newsletter of which she was editor. Emmy died in May, but her memory will be ever with us as we recall her vigorous and loyal support of the class and the College. She was a true member of the class of 1933.
Jack Manchester, our perennial and hard-working chairman, calls to our attention two significant future events over which he will preside. One is the fall mini-reunion which will be held on the weekend of October 2 and 3. The other (can it be possible?) is our 60th Reunion which will be held from Monday, June 14 to Wednesday, June 17, 1993. Jack asks that all hands mark calendars now and plan to attend these two significant occasions. The Kendal '33 Mafia will assist with the Reunion planning and suggestions about details will be gratefully received.
Waxie Wright took our place at the May 9 executive committee meeting and reports that Sam Cunningham announced that the treasury balance was $10,566.93, and that JeffDavis was appointed reunion treasurer. Tedand Laura Allen and 20 others were at the meeting chaired by President Sprague. Ted pronounced the meeting to be constructive.
Bill Hitchcock, well-recovered from bypass surgery, wrote enthusiastically about the May 1933 dinner at die Norwich Inn, at which 24 classmates and associates were present. The evening was delightful and food and service were excellent.
When last heard from, Sid Stoneman, beside sending words of encouragement, was grousing that he and Miriam had come from beautiful Florida weather to the blustery Boston climate, but by now we're confident that they will be ensconced in their retreat on the Cape in perfect comfort.
