Last month I ran out of space reporting on my Alumni Fund contacts. Two others—one happy, one sad—were noteworthy. First, Hal Stahmer, down there in Gainsville, Fla. My notes on that conversation were only ten minutes old as I word-processed them, and they are effectively unintelligible—only because we went in several directions in a short time. Hal continues to focus much of his busy agenda on Prof. Rosenstock-Huessy's life, writings, and teachings. And let us not ignore the professor's daughter, Paula Rosenstock Huessy, Hal's wife since '1985 (correct your directory). He's busy with a biography of R-H and helped make possible a micro-fiche and computerized index of R-H's prodigious output. The most urgent fragment of our eclectic conversation was my effort to get Hal and Paula to detour five minutes off 1-95 long enough for a shore lunch on Madison (an invitation open to all '51s). One reason: as a pretheology undergrad, Hal frequently performed "marriage rites" at Chi Phi on Friday evenings. These vows were valid through Sunday, and mine to Skip have endured for forty years. I'd like him to see the results of his handiwork. Hal has a special place in our hearts.

The final call left me heavy-hearted. Dialing an old fraternity brother, Frank "Inky"Ulrichs, whose last contact with me was at our Commencement, I was advised that he had died that morning. Frank had lived in Norwich, N.Y., just about all his life. At Dartmouth, he was a quiet, gently humorous fellow who was always good company. I wish I had followed Herb Knight's urging to make those calls sooner. An obituary will appear in a future issue. The class has expressed condolences to Frank's family.

R.H. Chittle '30 sent us an interesting squib from the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, near his Longboat Key, Fla., home. It noted that BobKoski (owner and founder of Sun Hydraulics) doesn't have much truck with titles in his business. The article states that the company does have one employee with a snazzy looking business card. "Marie Olsen does a lot of the little jobs ... including tending to the greenery in the factory and office areas. As a special gesture, the company had business cards printed up for Olsen with the title 'Plant Manager.' She's the only employee with a business card." My correspondent also described Bob's active participation in Sarasota cultural affairs—his roles as secretary of the local Dartmouth Club and director of the 400- member Ivy-League Club, the only Ivy League luncheon club in the country (true?). So Bob is getting it done in Florida!

Your scribe is poised and ready to publish a three-verse ode in borderline limerick for whenever your own contributions are too feeble. It's a creature of Boynton's new-found tree time. Be forewarned. Mail early!
