There was an excellent turnout at the class meeting on Saturday morning, October 17, right in die middle of Dartmouth Night Weekend. There were 29 classmates in attendance: Bob Adnopoz, Don Berlin, Bob Berry, Dick Danforth, Clark Davis, Bob Dean, Deke DesCombes, Dave Fitch, John Gillespie Jerry Goldstein, Bill Grover, Rick Hartman, John Heston, Herb Hillman, Mas Itabashi, Dick Lewis, Bruce MacIvor, Dave Mandelbaum, Charlie Morrison, Steve Mullins, Dick Page, Dick Pearl, John Pope, Hugh Roberts, Harry Robinson, Tom Sayles, Dick Steinberg,Wayne Well, and Bill White.

The meeting was run flawlessly by President Goldstein as we went through a long laundry list of happenings and approvals and adjourned promptly on schedule.

Charlie Morrison reported that we are in fine fiscal condition with some reserves built up toward the 40th Reunion in 1994. We continue to support two Rockefeller interns each year. However, contributions to this worthwhile cause lag behind the expense, and the class voted to increase the request accompanying the annual dues notice from $10 to $15. The intern program is most deserving of your support, and we hope that more than the current 50 percent of dues payers will join us next year.

Herb Hillman received well-deserved praise for the format and content of the newsletter. He will endeavor to increase production from five to six issues. Knowing the pressures of deadlines, I empathize with him we all understand that quality is most important.

John Gillespie reported that Sandy has received about 100 recipes for the class cookbook and needs many more to compile a representative sampling of our culinary skills.

Deke DesCombes reported that 68 percent of the class contributed to last year's Alumni Fund, and we exceeded our goal of $175,000. Avery important item for those contributors whose gifts are matched by their employers: starting with the 1992-93 fund drive, all matching gifts must be received at the College by June 30,1993, in order to be counted in the year's tally. Therefore, if you are in the habit of sending in your check at the last moment and the match form to your employer late in June, the resulting match will most likely fall into the next year's fund drive.

Other classmates who were seen at one or another gathering over the weekend were Jimand Joan Adams, Bob and Jane Buchanan,Pete and Tricia Bullis Jim and Claire Clark,Art and Toby Geller, Lyon and MarciaGreenberg, Bob and Jenny Kirkpatrick,Dick and Lindy Leary, Joe and Kit Loew,Dana and Anne Low, George and JudyMcLaughlin, Dutch and Joyce Oudheusen,Jack and Connie Smith, and Ed and MaryLou Winnick.

After the game President Goldstein presented the 1954 Class Award to Dan Berlin, a well-deserved honor. While on the subject of class awards, for those of you who will receive copies of the proceedings of the class meeting, I regret that I neglected to record the delayed award to Tom Kelsey at last year's holiday lunch gathering in New York City.
