At last in mid-January we had snow. A gentle storm left this area looking like a fairyland, The trees were heavily laden with snow, and there was more than enough on the ground for great cross-country skiing, which is just what I did. Also in January, ILEAD started for the winter term, and we enjoyed "Remembrance of Things Past," an autobiography course. I hope to leave our children and grandchildren some written memories.
Rip called to let me know about classmates he had talked with lately by telephone. Both Russ Goudey and Charlie Goldsmith have had eye operations, and are awaiting the return of good eyesight.
Archie Crowley turned 86 in January and is now living in New Hampshire. He would very much enjoy hearing from classmates. His new address and telephone number: Box 15, 33 Christian Ave., Concord, NH 03301-6141, (603) 225-5489.
Fay Stein, widow of Henry, sent a lovely note full of reminiscing, and she ends it, "With fond memories and deep affection for Dartmouth and people in the class." Through the years the College has meant so very much to many of us wives and children included.
We have not been able to locate Jack Boyle. Does anyone have any information about him?
Dan Luten, who has promised to send along some of his "Lutenisms," recently came through with the following quote from John Muir: "Whatever you take hold of in this world, you find it's attached to the universe."
