Calling Jack Manchester in Hanover about reunion matters recently, we were informed by Dot that Jack was at the hockey rink. We asked facetiously if he was cleaning off the ice, but were put in our place when he later informed us that he had been cheering at the Harvard game in which his granddaughter Phoebe not only played for Dartmouth but scored one of the goals. The Green defeated the Crimson 2-0. More than he scored against Harvard in three years, Jack noted. Phoebe is a 3.2 scholar, too (a bit higher than her grandfadier). The lady pucksters went on to win three games in Canada.

We were happy to receive Christmas greetings from Ted and Laura Allen (with a delightful selection of Laura's verse), RichBradshaw (with a striking skating picture of Suzie), Bea and Jeff Davis, Ann and NedLord, Dick and Dorothy Lyon, JinnyeMackey, Dot and Jack Manchester, Henderika and Jack Smart, Chilant andMannie Sprague, and Marge Worthington. We were glad to learn that Ted Allen practices at the piano for a half hour every day and is gearing up to provide the accompaniment for our 1930s Reunion sing-along, for which PaulWeston has provided the music.

We were also gratified to receive cordial notes from Dorothy Fobes, Helen Manley, and Ratherine Goldthwait expressing appreciation to the class for the memorial books donated to Baker Library for their husbands.

Bob Fairbank had reached 82 the day before we talked with him and had just moved with his wife into a 90-apartment complex in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, called Hamlet Hills. Dorothy had not been well, but was responding to treatment, and they are most comfortable in their new surroundings. Bob retired 12 years ago after merchandising tires for Firestone and then producing forklift trucks with Towmotor Corp. and Caterpillar. He still frets at the thought of all those damsels treading the sacred Hanover terrain. (How about that hockey team, Bob?) Son Bob '60 a Dartmouth basketballer, is now going great guns in small business while son Jonathan '62 is head of radiology at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
