A Dear Dad letter from Charles T. Morrissey '56 in Houston: "As an historian I am continually amazed by how often your '22 classmates make cameo appearances in my random reading. For instance: "James A. Hamilton appears in AmericanHealth Care, An Oral History, published 1985 by the Health Administration Press, Ann Arbor.

"William W. Shirley's 40 years as a professional librarian, including his 1951 presidency of the American Association of Library Schools, is recounted in the Dictionary ofAmerican Library Biography.

"Sterry R. Waterman, federal judge, has been awarded dedication in a new history of St. Johnsbury, Vt., by Claire Dunne Johnson.

"Richard G. Wood's History of Lumberingin Maine 1820-1861, initially published 1935, has been reprinted by the University of Maine Press. His tenure as director of the Vermont Historical Society, 1956-1965, receives attention—but less than it deserves—in Up andDoing: The Vermont Historical Society, 18381910.

"Philip B. Gove's assertion about the role of a lexicographer is quoted on page 323 of The MacMillan Dictionary of Quotations, 1990. 'The responsibility of a dictionary,' he told Life Magazine in 1961, 'is to record language, not to set its style.' That viewpoint is still debated, and Philip Gove remains a pivotal figure in scholarly literature about semantic usage." These classmates likewise remain in our cherished memories. Thanks, Charlie, and please continue— 26 Twoters have appeared in Who's Who in America.
