The College has sent word of the passing of Wally Martinson on November 24, of a cause as yet unknown to the writer. Wally was very much with us at the mini.

A note from President McMannis advises that Jack Coulson has stepped down as the class memorial chair, after years and years of service. It was decided to divide the duties between Class Widows Chair BetsyEmmons, Treasurer Cornie Miller, and Secretary Jackson. Jack has also asked for relief as reunion treasurer for our 55th, a job which will be picked up by Cornie. Jack, however, can be counted on for further service as a member of the executive committee, on which he has served admirably to the limit of our memory.

We heard from Dave Dutcher, who notes that he and Larry Vulte flew airlines the same years, 1941-72, Larry with Pan Am and Dave with United. Dave has recently undergone two successful cataract operations and says he sees 20/20—good enough, to pilot again, but he's lost the will. Dave recently stopped by for some shopping at Hank and Dot Conkle's Carolina Mountain Shop and gives it a rave report. In this connection we heard from Hank that Dun & Bradstreet has once again given his Mom-'n-Pop store a 3A1 rating. The Conkles spent New Yars Eve at Sea Island, then moved over to the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, followed by January buying trips, before returning home. In late February they were off again for Young Island off St. Vincent in the Grenadines.

Ed Cummings writes, "Got tired of raking leaves and shoveling snow. Sold the house in Natick on December 7. It snowed a week later. Moved to an apartment in Virginia Beach: 4402 Trinity Court, 23455; phone, (804) 464-5299. Great! All services supplied. Near our son Ned '68 and his family. Would enjoy hearing from other classmates."

Bill Ormsbee's son Clay reports that following his mother Hildy's death, Bill has moved out of Florida and in with Clay and wife Kathleen. Bill has four grandchildren, two teenage girls, and two college-age boys.

Rev. Steve Bachelder sends us a note from North Attleboro, Mass., re: the passing of LesTerry as reported in our last. Steve says he has nothing much personal to report except some recent history. Following four operations he fell off the operating table and broke a hip, and then, if I read him correctly, "fell on the ground when the stretcher broke while loading me on the ambulance to take me to a rehab facility." But the Lord takes care of His own. Steve continues on the happy note that he and Dottie are really enjoying retirement, having fun with children and grandchildren. "Even though I am still on a walker, with the old cane in the offing, I'm pleased as punch that our church, along with our denomination, has made me Pastor Emeritus."

From Wes Goding we learn that the Tomkins and Cushmans, Jack Cummings,Betsy Emmons, and the Godigs all represented '39 at the Southwest Florida Dartmouth Club luncheon in February.
