Nomi Borwell was kind to write that she had the pleasure of attending the dedication of the research building at Hitchcock Medical Center, for which she and Robert pledged $7,500,000 in 1988, paving $1,000,000 that year. That was a stupendous gift. Nomi spoke at the dedication and writes, "As I said in my remarks at the dedication, Bob loved Dartmouth. He was a generous and caring man, and early in life he learned die joy of giving. He had a simple philosophy: think of the other person and give your money while you are living so you have the joy of seeing the results of your efforts. [What a noble sentiment.] These past few years, I have had the privilege of visiting Dartmouth several times each year and watching the Medical Center develop. It has been a very exciting time." Thank you, Nomi. You and Robert have served a great cause!

Betty Sleigh spent four weeks on Nevis Island in the Caribbean starting January 18. She joined friends she and Bill had met there before. She then took a trip on the Delta Queen with Harvard and Yale contingents.

Bunny and Marian Levison went again to Margo Island. At a dinner given by the alumni of southwest Florida, Bunny was given a standing ovation for being a member of the earliest class present.

Walt vom Lehn celebrated his 96th birthday on February 25. Heartiest congratulations. Only our Walt knows the secret. We salute. And Norm Martin, my camping mate on vacations in Vermont, celebrated his 90th on February 20. We congratulate! Springfield friends gave him a rousing birthday dinner.

We are sorry to report the death of DorothyHaywood, widow of Charley; of CarolynJones, who was the wife of Berkely FairfaxJones; and of Gene Leavitt, Joseph's wife, all in February. Full treatment, including Joseph's and Esther Sharp's tributes, will appear in the May newsletter.
