Gary Allen, recently inducted into the U.S. Ski Hall of Fame, is still involved in competitive skiing, presently helping to organize fund raising for Abram Huber, a Junior Olympic ski jumper who is training at Lake Placid at the National Sports Academy.
The contributions over many years of Elaine Pinderhughes (Charley's spouse) to concerns of middle-class black women were the subject of a long article in the February 18 issue of The Boston Globe. Elaine was interviewed for the story at her office at Boston College, where she is still active as a professor in the School of Social Work.
Donna and Jack Faunce participated in the 150th anniversary of the founding of Jack's fraternity, Kappa Kappa Kappa, along with about 150 other brothers. Jack O'Shea checks in with a much improved medical report. He is feeling so much better than last year that he vows he will join us all at the September 25 mini-reunion. When Bob Wetzler is not consulting, he keeps busy traveling, boating, gardening, or computing.
The unexpected, sudden death of BobAustin came as a shock. Bob's contributions to the class were immense. His class newsletters were full of interesting items and loaded with humorous anecdotes of life on his New Hampshire farm. At our mini-reunions he was always on board as our jovial raconteur and song leader. His passing is a sad loss.
Jack Moody's two-pack-a-day cigarette habit produced two small nodules in his lungs. Following surgery, the prognosis was very good, and Jack is thankful the outcome wasn't worse.
Your scribe, who had never been west of the Hudson River prior to college graduation, has long since ruined that record. At exacdy the deadline date for this column, we planned to be with the Dartmouth Alumni College Abroad in Costa Rica or the Galapagos Islands.
