One of my favorite ways of keeping up with current happenings in Hanover comes in the spring when I interview prospective teachers. In the past few weeks I have had a chance to see several Dartmouth seniors teach sample classes and discuss possible openings here. What an impressive group of young people! Not only am I glad to see that the College is doing its part to interest students in teaching careers, but that the emphasis is on excellent training in liberal arts disciplines as the best preparation. The country needs these alumni/ae badly.

Of course my interviews always turn up the hot issues on campus. Not surprisingly, at the top of the list this year are the future of the Greek system—co-ed or otherwise and impact of the economy on senior jobhunting (not a new issue for those of us worrying about adolescent children). I would be interested to hear your opinions on the co-ed Greek issue for a future report.

I have two pieces of news from the career front this month. Bob Edwards has joined the Providence law firm of Peabody and Brown, where he will specialize in employee benefits as well as general corporate law. Bob is busy in Providence, where he is a trustee of the Providence Public Library, director of the Legal Aid Society, and president of Highland Memorial Park. Jeff Zimmerman is now serving as the representative to the U.S. and the World Bank for the "Technology Group Atlantic of Booz-Allen and Hamilton. Jeff and Pamm have recently purchased an old house in Windsor, Vt.I wonder if this means that while Jeff is busy in Europe, Pamm gets to manage the restoration job?

The Zimmermans shared with me a great letter from Frank Mwine. Frank is chairman of Uganda Consulthouse in Kampala, Uganda. He has a story which shows just how small the world can be for the class of 1967. His son Ntare, who was born in Hanover on the day of our last exam, recently auditioned for a Broadway role after getting his M.F.A. at NYU. The director asked if he was related to Frank Mwine, a classmate of his. It turned out to be Jerry Zaks, who then cast him in a road company production of Six Degrees of Separation which is playing around the country.

Bill Bogardus has scheduled an executive committee meeting in Hanover on October 30, the Saturday of Dartmouth Night Weekend. Many '67s will be there, so why not plan to attend "the Harvard game and join us?

Now, enough of this slow mail syndrome. Send me your news.
